Hotels within a reasonable driving distance of USC?

For orientation, it seems to make sense for any parents attending to stay at a hotel which is within a reasonable driving distance to the USC campus. Any suggestions on decent hotels? Not looking for a Ritz Carlton nor a Motel 6. Thank you for any information you may have.

The Radisson is withing a reasonable driving distance.

Try Priceline.com in the downtown area. I have matched with great hotels for $62/ night just 3 miles from USC.

The Radisson is so nice because it is just across the street from USC.

Try this B&B, which provides breakfast & FREE parking. It’s walking distance to USC. Good luck–they book up early so try them as soon as you know when you want to stay there!

I have stayed at Holiday Inn across Staples–good location but will NEVER stay there again (paper thin walls & ceiling). It was one of our worst hotels ever! A friend stayed at the same hotel but his room was fine (we had to switch rooms twice & call the hotel about being woken out a sound sleep from violence next door on two separete nights).

There’s a JW Marriott at LA Live (staples center area), and depending on the time there may be trams/trains running to USC. However, it is a rather expensive hotel.

Oh - I should mention that parents have the option of staying on-campus in Parkside apartments during orientation. Very convenient, but no air conditioning, just fans.

The Omni in LA is easily drivable and it was about $100/night when we went out for the admitted students day. Not bad for a really nice hotel!

Oops! I posted some misinformation in post #7!

Two years ago when I attended with my daughter, Parkside was the on-campus parent option. I am guessing the parents were less than thrilled with the very basic accomodations and the NO air conditioning and so USC made some adjustments.

The “dorm” accomodations for perents are now in the Radission directly across the street from USC. This is not the regular “hotel” portion of the Radission, but rooms on the floors used as USC dorms - so they are a bit shabby (okay… more that a “bit”) but they DO have air conditioning, which for the summer orientations really does make things more pleasant. The rooms are somewhat less expensive than the regular Radission rate: [Welcome to the USC Orientation Programs Website](http://sait.usc.edu/orientation/travel/overnight.shtml) The session fee, including two nights at the Radission (dorm portion) and parent orientation fee, would be $260/person. Remember - these are DORMS, so you would arrive to find your linens piled on the beds just like the students do. If you want the “hotel” rooms at the Radission, make those arrangements through STA, not the orientation website.

I am so sorry for the mis-information!
