Hotels

Hi, I am trying to find a hotel to book for Orientation. Any suggestions? Is the Residence Inn Chapel Hill a nice hotel? Any suggestions appreciated.

I would probably stay at The Hampton Inn
in Carrboro.!t is closer to campus & there are restaurants you can walk to. The Residence Inn is nice though.

Parents aren’t allowed to stay in the dorms for orientation anymore?

Thanks! Parents are allowed to stay but me and my hubby thought it would be nice to stay in a hotel. A little get away

The Carolina Inn is another good alternative. It is actually on campus. If you don’t mind spending a lot The Franklin Hotel is right on Franklin Street which is the main road in downtown.

When is orientation week?

@joe2015 there are different sessions

Carolina Inn is the best!

Residence Inn is fine. We stayed there before my orientation and had no problems minus the pull out bed feeling liek a rock. I’d also check the Courtyard Chapel Hill if you’re Marriott people.

Carolina Inn is really the best hotel in the area, in my opinion. And you can’t beat the convenience factor of being right in the center of campus.

Yep, the Carolina Inn is special but it comes down to how much you want or are willing to spend. You can find CI “deals” occasionally for $120 - $150 but it usually runs much more. We stayed at the Siena on East Franklin during before. Got a super rate and it is a nice place (though the last time there it needed to be refreshed). Aloft is good. There is a Hyatt Place close. Hillsborough has an inexpensive Microtel and HI Express which are fine. If you head out toward RDU, there are MANY choices in various price ranges. It is a 10-15 minute drive to Chapel Hill but will give you a lot of options (Wingate, La Quinta, Sheraton, Hilton, etc.).
