Hey everyone...
What are the "best" hotels to stay in? Something close to Dryden Road? Also, I've heard there is some hotel on Cornell's campus?? Can you tell me more about it?
I'm not looking for the most expensive ones, but just for some "quality" hotels... (At least two stars).
Thanks!!

The Statler, on campus, is pretty awesome. Incredibly convenient, good food, we Feel very pampered when we are able to stay there. It's not cheap.

For a good quality, utilitarian hotel we stay at the Best Western just off campus in East Hill Plaza. It's basic, clean, safe, close to campus and free breakfast in the lobby. What more do you want?

Guys...almost all the hotels near Cornell are sold out for the 16-17th of August...ehhhh ;( I'm desperately trying to find the closest hotel and i found one that's 29 miles away! I have called every major hotel in or near Ithaca, does anyone have any suggestions about what I should do? thanks...

Try bed and breakfast. There is a link for b&b. We found a very nice one very close to Cornell. The catch is you need to stay for 3 nights. For us that's perfect, Thu (day before move in) and leaving on Sun. We figure we'll do some wine tasting if D is too busy for us. Statler hotel is very nice. Brunch is a must.

there is a Homewood Suites that is opening in June - we had to stay Aug 15-18 to get in - that gives you a head start on buying extension cords at Target

Oh cool! thanks for the info… do you by any chance have an estimate of the cost for the three nights? Thanks again! lol

I just checked out the Homewood suits and…they’re sold out…ouch ;( lol the location is perfect tho! I wonder when families start reserving places, it seems so early haha I'm glad my mom made me start looking into this now...

Acerbic, yup, same situation here! Though I'm looking for a place for the 9th-11th Aug... Just until I can get in my off-campus housing! but it seems I was wrong when I thought no one would need those dates...

I thought I was ahead of the game haha...I guess not! lol it's especially hard when you're not "that" familiar with the area... I’ll keep looking around tho!

Yup. Me too heh :) I'm moving from Europe, & I can only pray everything is going to be ok with my housing so I don't find myself needing additional nights at whatever hotel I stay in... Good luck Acerbic.. let's hope we find something good :)

The blunt truth is ... if you don't have reservations early for the hot dates, like move-in/orientation, parent's weekend, etc ... 29 miles away isn't that far!

After all, you could be in Binghampton! Or Syracuse! I made reservations for freshman move in before my son was officially accepted. I figured I could always cancel. I admit I was clued in by a student a year ahead of my S.

haha this was on the orientation page! I guess we'll just settle for the one that's 29 miles away lol

"Ithaca has limited overnight accommodations, especially those in close proximity to campus. You are encouraged to make necessary arrangements as early as possible (for some area hotels/motels, at least 6 months in advance is recommended). With short supply, many families will find themselves in hotels or other accommodations outside of the local community."

also, i found this place called the Hillside Inn...it's across from the campus, but I read that it's not the "greatest" or "cleanest" place to stay lol

I got rooms for Freshman Orientation and PArents weekend on the DAY my son decided Cornell was his school........so sometime in March. And I hate to say this but its not too late to book for Graduation weekend WHEN we arrive for Freshman Orintation

Bed and breakfast around Ithaca area. We booked 2 weeks ago and there were still rooms at some of those B&B. I got the link through Cornell's orientation page.
