Hourglass

figure..?

what does this mean to you?

Isn’t that typically identified as an ideal shape of an individual’s body?

ideal?

I dunno. There is an annual fashion show thing at my school. A girl in one of my classes asked me if I wanted to be in it…because I have an hourglass figure?

I found it strange…

[WikiAnswers - How do you get an hourglass figure](http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0oGkzDEzORLaO8AOppLBQx.;_ylu=X3oDMTByZ3RtN3J1BHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDMgRjb2xvA3NrMQR2dGlkAw--/SIG=12gf4i2jh/EXP=1273372228/**http%3A//wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_get_an_hourglass_figure)

I would assume that it’s desirable.

Large bust, narrow waist, broad hips.

An hourglass figure is when your figure looks like an hourglass (obviously). Basically, your shoulders/upper-body and hips are wider than the middle of your torso (your waist).

It is the desirable figure, and what many guys look for in girls. So yeah, you just got complimented. =)

^Oh, I guess that is good =)

@ trumpetgrl: luckyyy! that’s a nice figure to have hahaha…it’s definitely A LOT more feminine looking than my skinny figure :P…guys like it if youve got some meat on ur bones (well, specifically black & latino guys hahaha)…

and like everyone else said, it’s pretty much the ideal body type so…

…flaunt it! haha.

I dislike my broad hips…

^ Lol I’m pretty sure they’re not bad/uglt as you perceive them to be…it’s probably just in ur head :stuck_out_tongue: But srsly, you’re lucky.

on a random note once someone said that I have really High cheekbones LOL.(still kinda confused on this; not sure if it’s a good or bad thing? haha).

I was going to console you and tell you that you shouldn’t because so many other girls would kill to have that figure, but then I thought, that doesn’t really matter since you being happy with your body is what’s most important…

So yeah, I’m sorry to hear that you aren’t happy with your figure.

This has turned into a poorly feigned attempts at humility thread.

*According to anthropologist Elizabeth Cashdan, high-powered working women are less likely to have the classic shape of a tiny waist with wide hips and large bosom due to the stress levels associated with their jobs.
Instead, women who work to support their families probably carry a touch more fat than they would like around their stomachs, rather than their hips, says Professor Cashdan.
The move away from the Hollywood siren of yesteryear towards the more angular
attractions of the likes of Keira Knightley is attributed to androgens, a type of hormone that includes testosterone.
These hormones help women become physically stronger and more able to withstand stress - attributes that are needed to hold down high-powered jobs.
As a result, working women today are more likely to have a more ‘straight up and down’ figure.
