about how many hours per week in total do you spend doing extracurricular activities?

Right now (with the play practice and community service) about 2-3 hours each school day plus 3-4 hours on Sunday. Say about 13-19 hours.

anyone else

also what happens when the hours per week vary from year to year....sometimes i the activity was more timeconsuming than others due to leadership roles...is putting a range acceptable?

yeah taht's what i'm wondering too, but the commonapp wont allow room for "a range"

i just averege it over a year. for me now, since i m not in school, my ECs are basically half a day everyday (minus sleep + job).

I'm pulling 30 right now.

wow 30? what do you do?

the common app doesn't allow for lots of things .....remember the scene in Men in Black when Will Smith pulled the big chair over to make a desk when all the other stiffs were trying to write on their laps. ....youre in charge .......rediscover the pen.

Around 20, between piano, table tennis, clubs.

I'd say around 20, depending on the week. I am in JSA, Band (Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Pep Band), Academic Decathlon, Boy Scouts, and NHS, but the hours aren't evenly split among them. BTW 20 hours includes officer meetings and duties, which I have for every EC except NHS.

I've been wondering about the whole averaging thing too. Here's an example: My Boy Scout troop meets once per week for 2 hours, every week. Once a month, however, we go on a ~48 hour camping trip. So for hours per week do I add 2 + 12 (48 hour camping trip divided by 4 weeks per year).

To take the example further, let's say I only did the weekly meeting and no camping trips, except a 7 day summer camp. Would I distribute all 168 hours (24x7) over 52 weeks, since I'm active 52 weeks per year, or do I just put 2 because it's a representative "typical" week?

Thanks in advance to anyone who is willing to answer this question and wade through the numbers.

i am in university, currently pulling 20hr+all my classes (including music practice)

around 20 right now--I'm thinking of cutting it so I can get a better job with more hours...

but once Jan rolls around, it'll be 16 hrs/week just for Robotics, woot!

billybobbyk- how i did it, for the first example it would be 2+12=14, and for the second example, yes duvude 168 hours by 52 weeks. But, the camp shouldn't count as 168 hours, because I don't think you really are doing the activity in your sleep...Only count waking hours, even if you're sleeping in the woods because of the activity...

fall: ~32 hrs/wk
winter: ~29 hrs/wk
spring: ~33 hrs/wk

Oh, if you are including stuff like camping trips and weekend trips and stuff then mine goes up by a lot. Pretty much every weekend I am doing some EC stuff like a camping trip, band competition/festival, JSA trip, etc. So I guess mine is higher than 20.
