House of Reps Page program?

Hi-
I was wondering if anyone knows when the applications are due for the house of reps. page program. I'm going to be a junior this year (09-10 school year) and want to participate as a page. I made some phone calls and was told to submit my info in January. Does this seem to late for the program? The guy I talked to on the phone asked if the student "will be a junior next year" and i dont know if he meant for the 2010-2011 school yr or 2009-2010 school year. Because January seems kind of late for a program that is in the spring/summer. (is it?)
Thanks!

No, I applied in January. Summer program apps are generally due in the spring, a several months before june.
Senate Page apps, however, are due in the fall.

I am aware of the House of Reps page program for HSers, however there is also a Senate page program. I couldn’t find the website.

I know my DD applied in the late spring or early summer before her junior year. If you are interested in serving during the academic year, January would be too late as pages are assigned for either the fall or the spring semester. Try calling your local congressman again for more accurate info. Some congressmen have info on their individual websites, so you can access that info and at least know a little more when you call with your questions. The application is pretty short, you need letters of recommendation, transcripts, etc. Hope this helps.

Google US House of Representative Page Program and a site appears with lots of info.

“Congressional pages are high school students who live, work, and attend school in Washington for several months. They play an important role in the life and work of Congress, calling members to votes, acting as couriers, and performing other duties. Selection is highly competitive, and only present high school sophomores and juniors may apply. Juniors may only apply for the summer program. Applications are available annually at the and of January and are due by mid March. For more information, contact the Congressman’s Washington office.”

So, as a rising junior you would be eligible for the summer program. It is probably too late for the academic year program.
