Housing and Billing?

Did anyone feel that their app came across as demanding? In mine, I labeled myself as a clean freak.

^I was like, “I’m messy but don’t like letting people see my stuff, so I promise to keep it together most of the time.”

But nah, mine wasn’t too demanding. :)

My room’s usually on the messy side so that doesn’t apply to me, but yes, I did sound somewhat demanding in my essay too out of the hope that the person reading it will take me more seriously that way. Maybe. I hope.

I put down a triple, but I wouldn’t mind having a single either. Somewhere quiet.

I am surprised that there are those that still remember me. I have not posted in quite some time.

Anyhow, I was not placed into Elm Yard, actually. Rather, I will be situated in Crimson Yard, a relatively modern set of dormitories consisting of Greenough, Hurlbut, Pennypacker, and Wigglesworth. I honestly don’t have any excessively patriotic remark to make about my placement thus far.

Has anyone read through the [dormitory descriptions](http://www.fdo.fas.harvard.edu/icb/icb.do?keyword=k3806&tabgroupid=icb.tabgroup108060)? I found Mower’s blurb to be the most entertaining.

I plan to revisit that within the coming week. I do realize that there have been over 40 pages of material written since I last posted. But I have received quite a few Personal Messages in my absence so I will probably attend to those first before squabbling over evolution-denial, mythology, and self-deception.

Ergh, for quiet space, go to the library. :)

@mifune
I respect your present lack of yard patriotism.

But I can’t help but saying,
Yays, I am not the only Crimson kid so far!

^For now, we shall rule by the tyranny of the majority. Elm wins. :)

mifune,

I’ll be sure to warn MosbyMarion that you’re coming for him. Your absence was salient: welcome back!

^I wonder if the moderators in the HSL thread would delete a “Welcome Back Party” thread.

Hm. Food for thought?

^They definitely would if you address it to a specific person, but probably won’t if it’s more general.

But then I won’t have the comforts of a dorm room :(. It’s okay, I’ll just kick people’s midnight parties to the common room if I end up in a suite :).

I did, so many times. And got thoroughly depressed by how small the rooms seemed in Elm yard dorms.

Anybody else in Apley? Just found out how amazing the dorm is…I got lucky :)

Them post office folks is triflin’. Where in hell is my housing information?!?!

I just saw that post about Harvard yards being like Hogwarts houses and had to pitch in my oh-so-scientific observations…

In my opinion, it should be:
Crimson Yard: Griffindor, not just because of the color, but because it takes courage to walk across all that snow in the winter to get to classes/the Yard
Ivy Yard: Slytherin, because green matches more with Ivy than Elm, and Mass Hall, which is included in the Ivy, is so very selective (chooses 14 freshmen per year), like the Slytherin House
Elm Yard: Ravenclaw, only because I know friends living there who are extremely intelligent… but I guess that’s true of other yards too…
Oak Yard: Hufflepuff? because Oak wood = almost yellow?

… and I STILL haven’t received my housing info yet. did the mailman die on his way? :(

Er…you clearly don’t know me.

If he didn’t, you can ensure that he does once he arrives with your packet (after you retrieve it from the mailbox, of course). ;)

Anima sana, yes, you are very lucky with the glorious Apley:)

2014CollegeBound, yes, your calculations possess far greater accuracy than the observed whimsical diction of the sorting hat. (Hey, I said 9 and 3/4 percent in line with reality–did no one read the disclaimer? )

To all, please do not spontaneously combust because of the late arrival of your letters. It would traumatize the mailman.

^Erm, mail carrier (sorry for the gender bias).

The Hufflepuff common room is right next to the Hogwarts kitchens, and Oak Yard is closest to Annenberg … as much as I’m reluctant to admit it, it does sort of fit :P

Woah! Rising sophomore here, and I’d just like to point out that there definitely was not an Oak Yard last year. Canaday and Thayer were part of Ivy Yard. I feel so old now. Anyways, Union Dorms ftw…

and ftw means? What are your thoughts, maybe experiences of Union dorms?

I cannot speak from experience, but I guess one positive of Union dorms is that you get more exercise. :)
