Housing and class scheduling

Does anyone know when the housing and roommate allocation will be done?
Also, will the class scheduling be done at orientation?
Thanks in advance.

To my knowledge, housing assignments will be sent out in July. As for scheduling, I do believe it is done at orientation.

Thanks for the response. As for AP credits for the economics or US history, can they applied to GEC requirements. If so, does the student take 1 or 2 lesser GEC courses than required.
Thanks.

GECs vary depending on the college. For instance, the GECs for someone in the College of Engineering may be different than the GECs for someone in the College of Arts and Sciences. However, economics and US history are commonly on the GEC lists for many colleges. How much it will reduce your GEC requirements also depends on how much credit you are granted. For instance, an AP score of 3 may only get you credit for one class when a score of 5 may get you credit for 2 or 3 classes.

RMGsmom, Thanks for the clarification.

Scheduling is done at orientation. I found out my dorm and roommate about 3 weeks before school started

Thanks OsuMEngineer, do you remember if you had completed your housing contract in early May or later? Did you request a roommate? If not, were you placed in a residence hall that you had listed as your preference or was it random placement?
Thanks in advance.

Housing assignments are first-come, first-serve based on when your housing application is submitted. How soon you receive the housing application is based on how soon you sent in your admissions acceptance and deposit.

If I recall correctly, my son was accepted in November/December, sent a deposit almost immediately and had his housing application in around January I think. He got exactly what he requested, and engineering dorm on North.

However, his friend was late to submit his housing application and he did not get his first choice which was anywhere on South. He ended up in Lane on North with a seemingly random roommmate. He liked it anyway but I am sure that he would have been on South if he had applied earlier.

Truthfully, each location has its pros and cons. It is just a matter of preference although having a nice roommate helps.

I dont remember for sure but I think it was in april. I decided to get a random roomate but I did get the dorm I wanted. This may have been because the learning community I wanted was in this dorm also.
