when do I apply for the housing and when do I get the decision ? I applied the UM next spring as transfer student , I don't know if I should apply the housing before I got accepted or after . and how do I track my application status ? Will they send the student ID , but now I got nothing from the UM .

Yeah oddly you have to wait a while for student ID,

cant apply for housing until you get accepted.

From the UM website:
Freshman housing guarantee
As a University of Minnesota student, you can choose to live in a campus residence hall or apartment. By living on campus, you will find academic and social support to help you be successful. Currently, over 75 percent of new freshmen live in University housing.

The University of Minnesota guarantees housing to all admitted first-year freshmen who are willing to accept assignment to any space designated, and who:

Submit the housing application-contract with the $25 non-refundable housing application fee to Housing & Residential Life no later than May 1; and
Submit the enrollment confirmation fee to the Office of Admissions no later than May 1.
We encourage you to apply early! Housing assignments are based on the date your housing application-contract is received. When you apply early, you increase your chances of receiving your first choice. You do not have to wait until you are accepted to the University of Minnesota to apply for housing.

The last sentence says you do NOT have to wait until you are accepted to apply for housing.

You can call admissions and they will give you your ID. You have to call, not a parent, unless your parent has your Soc. Sec. no. handy (they really aren’t supposed to give out info to anyone but the applicant.
With that number, you can set up your application tracker.
You can then apply for housing whenever the Fall 2010 housing app goes up. It wasn’t up last time my daughter checked.

MAKE SURE YOU SEND IN YOUR HOUSING APPLICATION AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE. If not, you WILL be put in expanded housing, which really sucks. Trust me, you don’t want it. So continually check for the housing app (since according to the poster above, it’s not up yet). Just wanted to say that lol.

I just hear about the decision from admission UMN , I am on hold or waiting list , I am so sad and upset , I didn’t take any social security classes and I am very hard to get the final HS transcript from my country , I sent to them my HS diploma and they don’t admit it . I am a transfer student for my second year , right now I feel so hopeless , Do you guys think I still have a chance ?

Vampire, I don’t think anyone on this forum can answer your question about admission except to say that they do take people off of the waitlist. If you are serious about attending the U and will go if accepted you need to get your housing request in as soon as possible or you might be accepted and have no housing available. Good luck!

thanks, Den , right now I still wait the final decision , I can not think about the housing and anything else , and I applied the other schools and still waiting , appreciate your advice .
