Housing and Food

Hi,
Is there a ‘single’ room option for freshman? And, how good is the food (quality and variety) for a vegetarian? Thanks!

I’m not sure about the singles for freshman. If you have a medical reason I’m sure you can make it happen but otherwise, I’m sure they are tough to get.

My two spiders (a recent grad and current freshman) are both vegetarians. In general, Richmond has a top notch, award winning dining hall and there are vegetarian options every single meal (and not just cheese pizza.) However, there aren’t as MANY options as the meat eaters have and so they do eventually get burned out. They use their dining dollars to give themselves more options at other campus eateries. Since both went to the same school, I can’t tell you if their veggie options are better than other places but you will still be well-fed at Richmond.

Thank you @turtletime for your speedy reply. Glad to note that there are veggie options beyond the cheese pizza ?!!

If you use this link (scroll down), you can see the weekly menus at the dining hall. This should give you a good idea of the available options. Note that Richmond is on spring break this week, so the menus may not be as extensive as when school is in session.

Tysvm @cmfl11!! Will keep an eye on it for the next couple weeks.

@turtletime, what was your kids’ experience regarding spider dining unlimited plan vs unlimited plus? Not sure if the former is going to be adequate or not. TIA.

@Blore2023 regular unlimited has always been more than enough for my kids. It’s 800 dining dollars a semester and whatever you don’t use 1st semester rolls over to the next. Mine are always scrambling to use up all their points end of the school year. Yes, some kids eat their points up faster but the difference between packages is purely in dining dollars and it’s dollar for dollar, you can always bank the difference and give it to your kid if they really need it but with the unlimited plan, they will by no means starve… they may just have to pay cash for a drink at the coffee shop.
