Housing and Greek Life

I will hopefully be attending UT Austin next fall from out of state and was just wondering about a couple of things.

First off, where to live? Best dorms? Nice without a hefty price tag?

And Greek life. How big is greek life on campus? I just can't see myself in a sorority but I love to socialize. Should I consider it?

Anyone know?

Greek life is a great way to make friends and have a ton of fun during college. At UT, greek like 100% dominates the party/social scene, and anyone who says otherwise doesn’t go out and is incredibly ignorant. If you are looking to rush, you should look at living in an off campus dorm for sure. Hardin and SRD are going to be the best to live in as a girl if you want to join a sorority, Callaway and Towers are good too.

As a senior in Austin considering UT and sorority recruitment, rush at UT is very competitive. If you are considering it, it is necessary to have letters of recommendation to all the sororities. I would decide if you would like to do it or not soon and begin making connections, because most sororities want rec letters by June. If you are given a bid by a sorority it can be one of the best experiences you’ll have! I believe that sorority life is only enriching the college experience, and strongly encourage everyone to do it as long as they understand the preparation!
