Hmm. I was on Collegeboard just killing time and I looked up UF and saw that there are "Married Student Apartments" and it also says there are pets allowed in dorms. I wonder if there is any truth to either of those?

yes, there is an option to sign up for housing as a married student or as a family. pets im not sure about tho. i hope not. dont get me wrong, i love pets but if my roomate has a dog ****in on my stuff heads will roll

Yes, housing questions.

There are "married student apartments." You normally don't see ugrads in them. Most they are grad students trying to get there masters or PhD's. You are allowed animals but its really restricted. Its best to find out which are allowed before you get one. Once you move into the dorms you have to fill out a pet policy form and turn it in to your RA (roommate must also sign it). It then goes to the RLC (head of that dorm area) and they approve it. Off hand, the pets I know that are allowed are small birds, hamsters, rabbits, frogs, and some others. Dogs, cats, snakes are not allowed.

I live in Hume; we have a bird. We actually had four birds until three of them went to live with my roommate's mother. There is a sign on the front door, though, that states that no dogs or cats are allowed "at any time" in the dorm.

Since I was admitted for summer my dorm for summer and fall will change right? I know that the dorm for the summer wont be a problem but for fall I was thinking Sledd, Murphee, or Fletcher because I like the room setup.

Can anyone tell me if these are good dorms and if so is anyone better of the other two? Thanks.

Not necessarily. If you pick a dorm in the Murphree area thats open for summer B then all you would have to do is store your stuff in the new room before you leave.

Dorms open for summer b include: Murphree, Fletcher, Buckman, Jennings, Springs, Keys, Lakeside,

Broward is used for PREVIEW
Beaty for science program they have.
Most of the graham and tolbert area is used for sports camps.

Oh okay that helps. Also, I cant find on the website where is talks about the bathroom but does anyone know what kind of bathrooms Fletcher and Sledd have?

Its hard to explain the bathroom setup in Fletcher and Sledd b/c those two dorms are awkwardly designed. Even RA's get lost in those dorms sometimes. Technically the bathrooms are community style, but its different than community style in Broward and Jennings. There are about 3 sets of bathrooms with 2shower stalls and 2 toilets each on each floor.

So theres the problem then of having too many people taking showers at once then right? Or is there less people on the floor?

Generally it works out where everyone takes showers at different times. Even in dorms like trustler that have 52 people to 4 shower stalls. Shower time for everyone is usually different.

i'm in trusler and i dont think there's 52 people in my hall but we do all manage to be able to shower when we want to. the first few days it might be difficult but thats the good thing about being in the dorm before class starts so you know when the rush is and when you can be assured you will get your favorite shower(well for me I only like to shower in one particular stall).

If you haven't looked in the previous posts about the muphree area, as a freshman its preety hard to get that area dorm since it provides a high return rate so it's best to stay in the broward/graham/jennings area. Lots of freshmen. :)

I'll correct myself, 52 is the max capacity on a full RA's floor if every potential temp/permanent triple is filled. the first floors of simpson, trustler, and graham are A-RA floors so they have less residents (usually about half of a full RA).

I remember my freshman year I had no problem getting in a shower when I wanted to. I was in Trusler.

Will it be hard to get into the Murphee area for summer?

naw, summer downs never overpack i hear. you prob get the dorm you want, especially since you have an ED place in line (assuming you turned in your contract fast)
