Housing App

i am happy that i got a single for next year even if it is the size of a closet. anything is better than a triple.

You will need to have special circumstances to be situated in a single or double for the incoming class. (limited to health issues)

Just be happy they won't bring back the lounges for students reside in, given that there is another increase in enrollment.

My friend, who's a first year and does not have any special circumstances (such as disability), lives in a single in Dykstra. Funny thing is, he didn't even wanted a single. Housing gave him two choices: it was either a single or Hitch (suites). He chose the lesser of two evils

Dykstra doesn't have singles... is he paying for 2 people to live in that room? Last year, there was a person on my floor who used to have a roommate, but her roommate moved out so she had to find a roommate, an alternative place to live, or pay for 2 people to stay in her room. She ended up commuting for the rest of the year.

YES there is! It's the one @ the very end of the hallway. He even has a couch in the room. He never had a roomate to begin with. What happened was that they gave him Hitch, and he requested a change. They offered a single in Dysktra. I beleive his situation is rare... but you can check it out yourself if you don't beleive me. It's a room at the end of the hallway, on the west side.

Tony, i'm surprised they havent added a roommate with this housing shortage, esp. because they stand to lose nearly 3k a quarter with him living alone. Don't you thikn he'll get a roommate tomorrow?

FYI for any kids with health issues -

you have to have documentation sent in to somethingsomething in order for your housing requests to follow through. (Namaste, help?) Otherwise, it will be ignored if you write in that extra space on the housing application.

health issues? can i just say that i have extreme allergies? hehe .

Yeah... I have extreme allergies to one of my roommates... :o Alas! No double.

you need a note from a legit doctor or psychologist for the disability board to accomodate you ;)

you are going to be in a triple... just face it and accept it xD
if you are one of the lucky few, you'll get a single (it's maybe two-thirds the size of a double/single room) in hedrick summit. or the few random singles in dykstra (yes, they DO exist).
regents/honors/AAP don't get the best rooms. as far as the honors program goes, i believe you find out you're accepted to the program AFTER you've signed up for housing, so how would they know? and while there's always anecdotal evidence from the past of regents scholars getting doubles, keep in mind, this year has an EXTREME shortage of doubles.
as in, they don't exist if you're not handicapped.
there will be probably 2% of freshman in doubles. and maybe the same in singles. i'm too lazy to do math but... just resign yourself to a triple, and plan accordingly ;)

yeah, what LIYANA said.

its stupid to offer 3-4 yrs of housing when usc offers 1, and everybody has a nice spacious double :)

well...
just get a good sign up time and you're golden xD
is looking forward to getting out of a triple

one year won't kill you...
two years might. jkjkjkjkjk i'm not trying to scare anyone ;)

It's ~5% for our class. Probably only a percentage lower for this year.

It must be a critical situation - such as a life threatening health issue.
Clearly to approve of this "petition", the reason must be limited to "serious issues"
ex. my roomate can DIE if he eats anything nuts related
