<p>heeeey....SO. Has anyone RD filled out their housing application yet? I know you do it online through NYU Home, but has anyone actually been able to access it yet? I sent in my deposit on 4/11 and I'm assuming that the application will open up once they record the $ I sent. Am I right or is it activated for everyone at a certain time? NYU UGADMISSION or anyone else, if you could provide input...</p>

<p>I called today and was told that once the office receives the initial deposit, instructions on how to fill out the NYU Home Housing Applications will be sent via snail mail. She also assured me that it doesn't matter when you sign up for housing--everything is a complete draw of luck.</p>
<p>All housing deposits ($1000, all though I'm not sure if the initial $500 deposit counts as credit towards that $1000) are due by June 1st.</p>
<p>wait.. i sent my deposit like righ on April 1st.. buh i still havent gotten any instructions.. has anyone else?!!!! and do nyu scholars get an advantage in picking dorms?</p>
<p>no one but Early Decision applicants get ANY sort of advantage--NO ONE. </p>

<p>Hey guys - sorry for the delay in this response (as you can imagine things are pretty hectic in our office this time of year.) Yes, once your deposit is received and processed you will have access to the application for housing through your NYU Home Account. A couple things to remember:</p>
<ul>
<li>the mail to New York City can be slooooooow. So always allow a week for something to reach us in the mail. In the case of deposits, we update student records every day to reflect this information. But the computer system usually takes another day for all other University offices to have the info. So, one week from the 11th is today. Your housing application should be up on your Home account by the end of this week.</li>
<li>We send detailed instructions for setting up your net-ID, NYU e-mail, and your NYU Home Account in your acceptance package. Make sure to get these things up and running.</li>
<li>Once all freshmen deposits are confirmed the Housing Office sends detailed application instructions via post as well as to your NYU e-mail address. However, for those who are savvy enough to navigate the technology on their own you can definitely get the application filled-out before the official instructions arrive.</li>
</ul>
<p>The Housing Office does try and honor preferences. But there are some dorms that are incredibly more popular then others (Hayden always seems to be at the top of students lists.) So it just depends on how many people also request the hall that you have selected as your first choice as far as if it will be possible to meet that request or not.</p>
