Hello everyone! I finished the housing application today and read from one of the officials from RPS that they select housing applications by the process of first come first served (Hence the time stamps on the completed application). I was just wondering if anyone with experience with the housing app would be able to estimate my chances of getting the residence hall I requested? I want to live in Briscoe my first year, and my preferences for the housing app go in this order:
Enhanced Housing
Northwest Neighborhood
My roommate
The time stamp on my application was at 5:04 P.M and the application went out at about 4:35, so I was one of the earlier applicants. Does anyone know how likely I am to actually get into Briscoe? Thanks for the help!
What about if you do: 1. Roommate 2. Northwest 3. Enhanced? What are the chances of Briscoe? Also, I need air conditioning due to an allergy, will that make the possibility of getting Briscoe better or worse?
Northwest Neighborhood (with the exception of Collins) is the most requested neighborhood by freshmen, so don’t get your hopes up too high. However, since you’ve requested Enhanced Housing, you should get Briscoe. There are also a couple of LLCs in Briscoe that help increase your chances of living there. Since you’ve submitted it, you can always go back and make changes. To be honest, I don’t think it really matters when you submit your housing application (unless you do it ridiculously late) because I submitted mine not too early and got my first choice, but I know several people who submitted the day the application opened and requested Briscoe, McNutt, or Foster but ended up elsewhere. May the odds be ever in your favor.
@Briarcliff that will not help your chances. If I’m correct, Collins, Wright, and Read are the only dorms with no AC. You can submit a medical form stating that you need an AC if you do end up in one of those dorms, but otherwise it’s fair game.
@Briarcliff4 ; If you have a medical need make sure they are aware of that. It will help.
Do not get your hopes up for Briscoe. The day applications opened RPS was FLOODED with students and parents making sure they got Briscoe. Of course there is no assurance process. It’s complete luck of the draw.
Plus side, as long as you don’t get Ashton, you will have a great year all around.
I would say your chances are pretty good. But, really, it depends on how many people submitted before you and what their preferences were.
I submitted my housing with the preferences 1. Roommate 2. Enhanced 3. Northwest as soon as the application was open and was assigned McNutt, but was able to switch to Briscoe.
Right now I live in Shoemaker tower floor 5, and I love it! I’m actually going to be living in Briscoe again next year, but in Gucker on the 11th floor.
