Housing Application

I'm just wondering... when we get our housing info back during the summer, will it say who our roommate is (if we did the random roommate selection)?

And speaking of random roommate selection, do these usually work out? I really want a roommate I can click with, and I'm afraid that a random roommate and I would be completely different to the extent that we wouldn't get along.

Yes, you get the name and info for your roommate. I would reccomend calling them and whatnot then.

I'd say roommates work out 80% of the time.

If you do request a roommate on the housing form, do the two of you have to have the exact same selections for all the housing preferences? I'm thinking of rooming with someone, and while we both have the same top choices (i.e. Quad), after that she's thinking high rises, and I'm thinking of some other houses...would that just confuse the housing people?
(Sorry for the thread hijacking...)

make the same selections for everything

yeah on that note, you absolutely must have the exact same rankings accordring to the housing ppl

Are there a good number of current Penn freshmen who didn't request a roommate and thus did the random roommate selection?

i'd wager that the majority of freshmen do random selection.

actually, everybody has a roommate. the only girl besides you who is doing random roommate selection smells, leaves food around and stays up until 4 everynight. Have fun.

Oh, and Trevor, her scuzzy bf, will be practically moving in as well.

HA, you're funny. But seriously, thanks for the responses! I was just really worried about starting my college experience sour with a roommate I totally don't get along with, but now I'm not as scared about this random roommate selection.

Most roomies generally get along unless there's a huge lifestyle difference (one's uber-messy and the other's an OCD-neat-freak, one's constantly banging and the other just wants to sit in his room and do work, etc). Almost everyone freshman year does it randomly and they generally get along fine.

Oh, another question. Are any of you currently in a residential program? How are they? (especially Penn Women in Leadership, if any of you know about it)

oh man, not to be a downer, but I *ing love roommmate conflicts. so hilarious when it's not you. I just want to throw * at both people and say it was the other person

i was thinking about doing penn women in leadership, but i dont know anything about it. can't help you there.
