Hello, everybody. I was accepted at Georgia Tech and it is very likely that I will attend. If a want an apartment should I submit my housing application from now? I mean, if I submit it later, is there any possibility that there will be no apartment available?

Unless you are an athlete, freshmen do not get do live in the on-campus apartments. All on-campus freshmen housing is dorm style. However, you are more or less guaranteed a spot in some sort of apartment housing after your first year.

Is it sure that freshmen are not offered apartment housing? Does anybody know if there are any dorms with bathrooms inside?

mAybe if you are in honors but otherwise u will not get your own bathroom.

Communal bathrooms are the worst part of college. On the bright side, you don’t have to clean them.

hey i accepted an offer to the honors program, do you know if i still need to apply for housing? i know all honors students are required to live in field…

nevermind i think that was probably a stupid question, i just looked on buzzport! i think i’ll wait till i know for sure if i’m going to GT before i pay the housing deposit.

kapoios001: Yes, I am positive that freshmen cannot live in apartments (unless you are an athlete). Georgia Tech does have a limited number of dorms with semi-private bathrooms(shared with one other person), but these are not available to freshmen. However, communal bathrooms are not a big deal. They have walls and curtains, so you don’t have to worry about modesty, and they are cleaned for you. Is there some reason you are so concerned about not having a private bathroom?

To clarify, the honors dorm (Field) does not have private or semi-private bathrooms. It has communal bathrooms just like the other freshman dorms, and it isn’t even one of the nicer dormitories…

mel2592: All admitted freshmen wishing to live on campus for the Fall of 2010 must submit a housing application and $600 prepayment by May 1. You should list your preferences for living just like you would if you were not in honors, but you will be placed in Field (the honors dorm) if you accept a spot in the program. Room and roommate assignments are processed by date of application, so it is strongly recommended that you complete the online application process as soon as possible after being accepted for enrollment, but if you accept a spot in the honors program this really doesn’t apply to you since you will be placed in the honors dorm.
