Housing Assignment - Beaumont Hall

Just found out that I have been assigned to Beaumont Hall. Can anyone on this forum provide me with any info on the living conditions of Lee/Beau? I heard that as a traditional dorm, Lee/Beau is the best for people who want to get involved in a tightly-knit community. But the bad news is that there are no carpets and a common room like that of Nemerov (where I stayed at last summer participating in a summer program here)

When did you find out about your dorm assignment? Are they all out? Did you get roommate assignment also?

My D lived in a triple in Lee last year as a freshie and it worked out great for her. Although not the most aesthetically pleasing dorm at Wash U, and others have newer/better/more amenities, it was still a nicer setup than 95% of the dorms on any college campus in the US.

Hey, I also got assigned to Beaumont. I know that some of the rooms are substance free, but neither I nor my roommate chose that we wanted that on our applications. Would we have been told in our room assignment if we were in one?

Room and roommate assignments became available through Webstac at 1201 this morning.

My son was placed in Lee 3. He’s pretty excited because he requested a traditional double, which he got. He did not request substance-free housing, though he toyed with the idea of doing so, and there’s nothing on his assignment that indicates that his room or floor are substance-free. I have looked at the floor plan and it looks like a great traditional dorm, and he’s so happy to be a giraffe!

Can anyone here tell us if Lee/Beau are airconditioned?

Thanks!

Foursite,

Where is you daughter living Sophomore year? To me it seems both good and bad that Lee/Beau is all frosh?

Thanks!

I got placed into Beau freshmen year and was to a triple. There is air conditioning in both Lee and Beau. As for the substance free thing, my floor was “substance free” but regardless my floor got drunk quite a few times. In fact the whole of Lee Beau got drunk too often at one point (with people hospitalized) and they put a ban on alcohol in the entire res college for a few weeks. Thats not to say that everyone in Lee Beau gets drunk and is unsafe. You can still hang with people and not drink.

I got placed in Beau! Does it get really humid on the lower floors during the summer?

All of the dorms, including traditionals, are air-conditioned. I recommend bringing a fan anyway because it can still get hot.

Substance-free is by suite for suite-style living and by room otherwise; it isn’t by floor. You can live in a sub-free room and live next door to someone who isn’t sub-free. If you’re sub-free, it will say on your housing assignment, and you have to sign an additional contract.

eeyore67–she will be in Eliot B as a soph. I’m not the best person to ask about the benefits of Lee/Beau being all-frosh but from my admittedly limited view, I would say that there was a definite camaraderie induced by that, as well as access to others taking some of the same classes.
