Housing assignment received

Housing assignment received and fee statement is updated as well. Minutes after I waived the student health insurance but chose the WilceCare supplemental plan the changes were reflected on her account statement.

These people are wonderfully efficient!

D is in Lincoln, her first choice.

Great news Mary. Hopefully that means that our housing assignment is coming soon. And hopefully it will also be Lincoln. While I'm not usually enthusiastic regarding billings, I must admit that OSU is remarkably efficient with such things. I had a similar situation when I signed up for the TOPP payment plan. The changes popped up on the account statement in real time. Now if I could just print out some money, I would be in business. :)

Haha, congrats on your D's first choice.

And don't worry about her over-sleeping for a football game...the marching band rehearses right outside Lincoln Tower every Saturday morning starting at 7 a.m.

Maybe Mary's D can run out and dot the "I".

The dorm rooms in Lincoln don't start until the 15th floor so the noise may be muffled. If not, then she can rise and shine. :)

That "i dotting" stuff is one of the OSU traditions I've found charming. The people using their arms to make the O H I O in all sorts of places and situations is also nice. On the OSU main page, there is a link where people send in their photographs from all over the world doing it!

Is there a name for the arm photos? And why are there offices for the first 14 floors of Lincoln? I need an OSU history brochure.

Has anyone else received their housing assignment? My daughter is at work right now so I'll have to wait until she comes home and checks her e-mail. I can't wait!

MaryTN, did that include roommate info?

My son received his housing assignment. He was also given his roomate's name. It turned out to be a neighbor down the street.

He's in Lincoln as well on the 20th floor. He's been able to locate half his suite mates and looking to find the other four.

Son is in Lincoln, 21st floor. He's tickled. :)

We should all stay in touch during the year since our kids all seem to be heading to the same dorm. Small world.

My daughter had to work late so she asked me to check on her housing. I looked on www.webmail.osu.edu. She gave me her username and password and I got into the account but nothing is there about housing. Am I looking in the right place?

That should be the right place. The housing assignment came out via email, so maybe hers hasn't been finalized yet. I would expect it to be soon though.

If she has her email messages forwarded to another email address (like my son does) then her messages won't show up on the osu webmail at all. At least that is how his works. His messages go right to roadrunner and never appear on the osu webmail site. I didn't think that was a good idea, but he didn't care for some of the features of the osu webmail site.

Since he got accepted to college he never listens to me anymore anyway. :)

SportsMama, There are only a certain number of messages listed on the first page. You may need to go to page 2. At the bottom of the first page it will list how many messages have been received and how many are unread. It was the unread part that first alerted me to the second page.

D was out of the country for 3+ weeks this summer so I was checking her email.

D is an OWL -- Orientation Welcome Leader. They arrive on Thursday at 6pm and have training on Friday. Anyone else's student doing this? I read somewhere that there were 1000 OWLs last year.

We just call them OHIO photos...

As far as the offices in Lincoln...frankly there's just nowhere else to put them on campus right now, but with the increase of students, Lincoln is supposed to be COMPLETELY residential in the next couple years.

I know they will be building a large office-type building on North Campus that will begin to house the departments located in Lincoln Tower in order to clear it out for students.

D tells me there is a Lincoln Facebook group and she has located 2 more suitemates. She is very excited.

What ISN'T on facebook nowadays =)

Not all of the housing assignments have been sent out, just so no one panics. Housing is still working on placing people last I heard.

That being said, I'm also in Lincoln! And the facebook group for it is a fantastic way to find suitemates, since you only see your roommate in the e-mail. There's a list of who is on what floor, too, so it's a nice way to see who will be around.

MaryTN - I'm being an OWL, as are a ton of other students.

Being an OWL helps a lot because you avoid the hoard of people trying to move in on Sunday, because you've already moved in.

My daughter e-mailed the housing people today and was told they are still working on finalizing some of the housing assignments. Bummer--hers happens to be one of them. She should find out some time this week. She is hoping to be in the Women in Engineering dorm. I hope it works out. :)

No news again today.

SportsMama, you all have received by now, I assume!

I requested Lincoln, then Taylor, but I was placed in Park with another honors students. It seems this is OSU's solution for running out of honors dorms this year!

Yes, Brit. My daughter requested Houck so she could be part of the Women in Engineering Learning Community. It was full, so they put her in Taylor. We requested she be put on a waiting list in case something opens up in Houck, although they don't consider any changes until the third week of the quarter has passed.

We'll see what happens. She hasn't heard anything from any of her three roommates yet.
