Housing Assignment

Anyone in Century Apts?

My daughter is in Century. She's not sure what to expect, as this was not at all on her list of choices. Have you heard anything about Century?

Yes, Century (1 bd/2 persons) was my daughter's first choice, but she attended the USC summer seminars last year so she has done the "dorm" social thing and wanted something a little more independent while still being on, or very close to campus. She was very excited to find she got her request. It is campus housing and is occupied 100% by students. The dorms seem to be clean and well maintained judging by the pictures on USC's housing website. They contain all the necessary furniture, including a couch, chair, coffee table, end table, and dining table and chairs , as well as desks and bedroom furniture. We recieved a package in the mail specifically for those living in campus apartments that gives you the opportunity to purchase a package that includes the kitchen essentials you will need (we are just going to purchase a package of kitchen essentials (pots, pans, ladels etc.) from Target or IKEA as she already has dishes, glasses, silverware and coffeemaker. I hope this info helps :)

Thanks a lot, Talk...it's nice to hear someone say it was their first choice! I have so many doubles of kitchen stuff...will be happy to offload some for her dorm. I guess we should wait until she gets in touch with her roomies so that there isn't much duplication.

ok...now i'm starting to get a little annoyed. then again...this could be due in part to me:

i haven't gotten my housing assignment yet when most people already have. i DID send my housing request a bit later than most, during the last week that i could send it in. according to the postcard that i received from TrojanHousing, they received it April 25, still well in advance of the May 1st required received date. is it because i sent it in so late that i haven't gotten mine yet? or should i call the housing office?

That does seem to be a trend. Everyone I know who hasn't gotten their contract belong to the last week of April. I think it is obvious that that should happen. And when I remmember the first ones to get the contracts were the people from Early March and such. If you scan the posts and the Housing Assingments I think you will prove they ARE being mailed in the order they were received.

The good thing is that you don't have to send them any deposit $$$ until after you receive your contract. I'd not stress; I'm sure they'll get the assignment & contract to you. If you're very concerned, give them a call or drop them an e-mail & see what they have to say.

Well I just received mine today: Radisson it is.

well i'd better get mine tomorrow, or else i'm seriously screwed. they just sent me an email saying the deadline is Friday...yeah, thanks guys, can YOU even send it to ME before that date? bitter i really hope i can get it into them on time. even if i do, i'll have to either send it overnight (or whatever the fastest USPS service is) or if need be, i'll drive the ~50 miles to get the damn thing there myself...

it isnt helping that when i checked my email, the housing office was closed, so when i tried to leave a message their machine was "full." resorting to email, which is usually sketchy in the first place...arg.

According to someone I know and someone who called the housing office regarding this issue, the dudes are currently working on the applications received on 5/1, so those who are out of state or sent it in the last minute will be getting their contracts soon. (probably this week or early next week) Don't lose hope!

Marks Hall representin'

Weird, we never got any e-mails about deadlines for sending back housing contracts. Son has gotten his contract & completed the roommate matching survey & returned it with deposit. If you're concerned, call the housing office. I believe the deadline for returning the housing contract depends on when you receive it--I think they give you like 10 days from the date they mailed it to get it back to them, but the date is on the contract.

I also got that email. If you do get your assignment in time, sign it and fax a copy before you mail it with the money. If they have the fax, they will save your spot

i just called them...they're gonna mail a new one out to me with a deadline two weeks from today.

thank God...that really started to worry me.
