West tower - renovated or not?

west tower was supposed to be renovated this summer, but because of the recession it’s a 50/50 shot. i havent heard anything this summer about west tower, but ill be able to find out on august 10th when i go back to school, so message me around then to remind me to check it out.

Thanks a lot AliAngel!

Does anyone know approximately what percentage of freshmen of placed in forced triples? Also, are the housing assignments made in order of when a student submits his/her enrollment/housing deposit? Thanks.

there’s no such thing as a forced triple, the room is either a triple or not a triple and BU will not put more than the allotted amount of people in a room. housing assignments may be made in order of when the deposit is submitted, which would make sense, but i’m not positive.

^Thank you. Just to clarify, by “forced triple” I was referring to a room that is designed as a double (ex. two closets) but has w/ three students crammed into it, although it sounds like that was what you’re referring to, as well.

yes, although the rooms are small anyway, triples have added space to fit 3 students, and every student is guaranteed their own bed, closet/wardrobe, and desk. and when there isn’t enough space in BU dorms, that’s when they put students in the hotels like the hyatt because they won’t force triples or quads. however, with the building of stuvi2, i’m pretty sure that they won’t need the hotels this year, but don’t quote me on that.

Hey – I’m in a double in Warren on the 5th floor. That’s the first floor of dorms, right? Thanks.

yes it is, and i know there’s a laundry room on 5 in a tower, and there might also be one on 5 of the other 2 towers but im not sure. i think there’s also a FIR on 5a but again, not sure about the other 2 towers.

there’s a laundry room on b tower as well

Anyone know what is already supplied in the dorms (im in a quad in Warren - so specific info would be great). I know obviously a bed, a closet, and a desk.

I would pretty much like to know what I should bring XD.

Uh you answered your own question, that is all the provide us sans the two fluorescent lights that are above the beds. The also provide a curtain for the closet and a dresser. If you went to Orientation, what you saw in the room is all they give, sans the sheets, soap lil cup and tissues ^_^. Basically you bring everything xD.

lol I stole the cup XD

So since there is no wireless internet, I’m assuming we are not provided an ethernet cable? And I also read that BU allows bed raisers as long as they are not plastic. Is that also true. Thanks again guys.

No wireless internet? I am pretty sure there was as my laptop recognized some signals from and upper floor of the Towers.

Yes, you need ethernet cable. It’s like 5 dollars.

you can use plastic bed raisers too

also most of the dorms have wireless internet somewhere, like in study lounges or the dining halls. but they don’t have them in the rooms. so you can maybe pick up signals, but ethernet is the way to go

Alright, thanks everyone for the advice! Should help come September.

I wish Towers had an exercise room.
