You can swap housing assignments over summer? But I read somewhere on the BU 2014 facebook page that you can’t; you have to wait until August 25th.
That being said, can you switch roommates? I know there are 3 options to changing dorms but not sure about roommates…

I need to change my room but it has nothing to do with my roommate. The thing is I signed up for Warren but got into Sleeper in West. So I wanna change before I get to know/meet my rm so there will be no hard feeling b/w us. Can I do so over the summer?

Yea I put the Engineering floor in Warren Towers as my 1st choice and didn’t get in.
I got Sleeper Hall in West Campus as well. Can you guys list anything good about West Campus because from my perspective Warren has the better food and is WAY closer to all my Engineering classes.

I don’t think you can summer swap as a freshman. And you can only change roommates if one of you changes dorms…you can only do it by direct swapping during the year, which means you or your roommate would trade places with someone from another dorm.

Anyone have any insight to 1721A in Warren Towers?

I’m in Warren Towers, 1405C, can anyone tell me if I have an okay view, or (hopefully) a corner double? Oh, and do Warren Rooms come with curtains and cable?

All dorm rooms come with cable.

@Hanita (or anyone who knows bu dorms)
Remember my blanket/comforter/heating question? Well now that I’m not assigned to Warren, do you know whether the heating will be as good in South Campus (29 Buswell Street)?

DS got a triple in Hojo - location seem nice right across from the science center. Any insight? How’s the elbow room, etc. Any tips for what he definitely ought bring/not bring?

I would say keep the beds lofted. Some people try to bring the beds down but that just creates clutter. Try to come early. There is one closet and two wardrobes per room, try to get a wardrobe. The “closet” doesn’t have any type of door so you end up having to buy a curtain. Keeping your stuff in a wardrobe seems more private but since it’s on a first come first serve basis then get there early so you can claim one for yourself.

Instead of using the ladder, it’s easier to climb on the side of the bed. The ladder just takes up space. There’s no safety rail so if you’re the type of person that rolls around, buy a safety rail. I think you can get them at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. There are holes on the side of the bed to attach a safety rail. I’m not sure if the university provides them, but I think not. I never asked for one and never fell off my bed once.

The nice thing about Hojo is that you can turn on the AC or Heat when you like in your room. Oh, but since you have your own private bathroom, get ready to do some cleaning. If the tub isn’t cleaned frequently it’ll get gross so make sure to clean it.

The size of the rooms is decent and since the beds are lofted you have more space than most people. Try to buy things to put your things in, though. Once you start leaving things on the floor then it seems crowded. You’re not allowed to bring appliances like coffee makers, toasters, hot plates, rice cookers, etc.

Oh yeah, the mattresses are these awful plastic things. I’d buy an EggCrate Foam Mattress Pad or something similar to put on top. The mattresses aren’t bad, but if you’re used to better then it’ll seem like a real drag.

AHD- Unfortunately, you’re on the side that faces B Tower. You might be able to glimpse out to the street from the peripherals a bit… It’s not a corner double either. Sorry!

Yes to curtains/cable. You do need to buy a cable wire connector though (check the website- I forget what it’s called).

Thanks! Is it true that COM floor 14 is an all girls floor? If so, hooray to having two bathrooms instead of one!

I’m in Warren 0709B! it’s a double and my roomate is a friend!!! Can anyone tell me if I have a view though? thanks!

Remember my blanket/comforter/heating question? Well now that I’m not assigned to Warren, do you know whether the heating will be as good in South Campus (29 Buswell Street)?

Most buildings go overboard with the heating. You might end up a bit hot.

I play the viola, and it is a weather-sensitive instrument. Meaning if its too cold, the wood will crack and if its too hot/dry the wood will either crack or it will go deeply out of tune.

Do most people keep their instruments in their dorm rooms? Or is there some sort of separate storage?

The CFA provides people in ensembles with lockers, but it’s kind of a trek from Warren if you’re living there.

Warren was my first choice, but unfortunately I got west. I guess it’ll still be good for meeting people but im pretty bummed and not looking forward to those long walks to CAS. Anyone wanna try to cheer me up?
