You could try switching once you get there. You never know, you might end up finding a place that’s close. Try posting in Towers, Warren, and Hojo and see if something comes up. I believe they have you fill out a card and they post it on the board of the dorm you want to move into.

You might find that you love West, anyway. I obviously don’t know what kind of person you are, but many people think they want Warren only to find out that it sucks.

Only way to find out is to brave it out. Make the best of it and good luck!

Thanks nickel and cj! I think im going to stick it out for the year and see how it goes.

Anyone reading this still not have a housing assignment? How many people are still waiting? Does this mean that all the spots in Warren are gone if people who wanted Warren as first choice are in West?

CCFierce, I never lived in West, but I will say that walking there gets considerably easier once you’re used to doing it.

I really don’t know if it means Warren/West are full or not. I can’t remember if anyone in there got their housing assignments later than the rest last year. Last year, I only remember a few people getting HoJo (575 Comm Ave), Towers, and Bay State when they heard later than everyone else.

I put Warren as a first choice and just got assigned to towers (2nd choice)

the east tower got renovated last year and the west tower is being remodeled right now so it’s not a bad deal. you’ll have a nicer and slightly larger room than you’d have in warren.

I still don’t have a rooming assignment…

Contact the housing office.

I got assigned 157 bay state road brownstone. I hear pros and cons about it, that Warren Towers is much better for 'meeting other freshman and socializing, but I also hear experienced students warning to stay away from the overcrowded, loud, dirty, uncomfortable ‘zoo’. Brownstones are very pretty inside and out, and I think I can make many friends in classes, clubs etc. What would you think? I’m considering filling out the housing cards/swap cards anyway when I get there, Either West (Im in CAS but its close to the fitrec which ill be using a lot) or warren. and if I change my mind I can.

This is what a review has to say:

West Campus is a great place to live freshman year. It is the only area with a grassy spot to hang out on, and it is located far enough away from campus to escape the incessant motion of daily life. Kids are often hanging out outside, playing guitar, talking, and generally interacting with one another—a sight rarely seen in city campus life. The dorm is also situated next to the football field, which is the perfect spot to play on snow days, sleep on clear nights, or kiss on the 50-yard line in the early morning.

Whatever you do, stay away from Warren Towers. It is the largest non-military dorm in the United States, and it is a freshman machine. It even resembles a factory in appearance—you have to see it to push the analogy all the way. If you have ever seen the Pink Floyd movie, The Wall, pay attention to the scene accompanying that very song—that is it exactly. Other, smaller dorms are usually a safe bet but tend to be more secluded from campus life. If you can get a hold of a brownstone, don’t give it up. They are by far the nicest living on and (in many cases) off campus.

It seems like West might be the best balance of warren towers/brownstones

EwE, it’s obviously going to be a choice. You will have to work harder to make friends if you live in a brownstone. A lot people make friends in their dorm freshman year. It’ll be tougher if you live in a brownstone setting with mostly upperclassmen around you. If you’re pretty outgoing and plan on joining some extracurrics, you should still be fine. You could become tight with your roommates too. In terms of down the line, you potentially could stay in the brownstone for sophomore year. That’s better than a lot of people will get.

Moxess, I’m an A1006! we’re practically neighbors!

I’m in Warren, tower B room 1607. Is this the premed floor? Is it coed?

0716A warren, do i get a good view?

jnd3344, I’m sorry to say that isn’t a good view. You’ll be looking at B-tower.

timesnewroman, Sweet!

I was randomly assigned to the Core Curriculum House, on 141 Carlton Street, in a single room. Don’t know much about it, or if it’s too secluded from the other dorms. Can anyone tell me what the building’s like, how big a single room is, how far it is from the main campus, etc?

1415B in warren. is that room okay?

alwayseverlyn, that’s a badass huge corner double. One of my best friends lived there last year, I have really good memories of that room haha. Management floor is the best!
