Housing assignments!

MacGregor H321

I got Baker! First choice.

danielsjang: "EC M3xx" would mean you're in 3rd West (confirmed by my EC resident son). There is no smoking and no cats on 3rd West: see the bottom of this list for the definitive word. The Third West website is here. Enjoy!

(PS: There are 3 named sections of each parallel (east&west) in EC. The east parallel has Goodale, Bemis, and Walcott, and the west parallel has Munroe, Wood, and Hayden. If your room begins with G or B, you know it's on the east parallel. If your room begins with M or H, you know it's on the west parallel. If it's just plain W you won't know for sure: maybe they're helpful and say Wo or Wa? :) The first of the 3 digits is the floor in that parallel (1 - 5). So there you have it!)

like are there some that are "social" or "antisocial"?

[/quote]

Oh my yes.

I'm just going to give the super-stereotype rundown, and you guys can investigate further during rush. I would highly advise meeting people from different entries if you're interested in lotterying into/staying in MacGregor, because the entries are quite different, and you may fit well with people in one entry and not another; during Orientation you can usually find groups of people sitting around in the entry lounges, and you should feel free to talk to them about entry life or whatever. (I might be there! :) I'm going to bake cookies again on move-in day.)

GENERALLY speaking (oh-so-general),
A, D, and G Entries are really social.
C Entry is happily nerdy.
(My understanding is that) J Entry is sporty.
B, E, and H Entries are slightly quieter (not antisocial, just less rambunctious than A/D/G).
F Entry is going through a period of change -- it used to be all-male, and just went co-ed last year. I think it's still renormalizing. Generally speaking, though, the guys in F were the party kids of the dorm.

mootmom (and anyone else), yes, they do indicate Wa for Walcott.

That was really helpful, Mollie...even though I know its only generally speaking

:)

I just don't want any enraged residents flaming me all "WELL I LIVE IN X-ENTRY AND WE ARE TOTALLY SOCIAL". Plus entry culture is more fluid than dorm culture, since sometimes a given entry will have to replace half its residents in a year, so my general stereotypes might not even be accurate for next year.

Next House 321

...my 3rd choice
What are my chances for switching into Burton-Conner for the relottery?

I have the same problem! I got Next 205, which was also my 3rd choice. I REALLY don't want to live there, either, and I hope there's some way to enter the relottery...

Random 212. (A double in Loop, I think).

how do you get the results? do they e-mail it to your mit webmail?

You go back to the lottery website.
http://mit.edu/housinglottery/

Your certificate should get you in.

MacGregor H226, anybody stays close to me :D ?
Hi a@mit, we will be neighbors this fall.

I'm in Mac Gregor A115. My first choice. I'm so excited.

I was looking at the floorplans, saying "Aww man... my room is smaller than most of the doubles." Then I realized there's in-house rush, "YES!" I wanted New House all along, so I'm content either way.

BC 423H! (I haven't seen any other burton-conners...?)
1st choice!

this post has been commandeered by said member's daughter, who doesn't capitalize.

next house, 366, who's my roommate?

Bexley Hall Rm 410C (Second Choice)

Woooo!!

East Campus W513. Is there any way to tell which paralelle I'm on?

bsax says they indicate Wa5xx for Walcott (5East), so presumably W5xx would be Wood (5West).
