no housing assignment yet, not on our billing either.....hope D has a place to live in the fall.

im in same position atlmom, i emailed them, and plan to call tomorrow

i checked my billing statement and my deduction for housing reflects that for a room with no air conditioning... the only community with no AC on my application was Ehaus. so assuming that i received one of my four community choices I would probably be there i guess

Also, on my billing info on the internet it shows a date for the deduction for housing as July 7th, 2007. So maybe this is the day assignments are released??? who knows.

I don't know if you can tell from your housing bill whether you have A/C or not. Some people are being charged for A/C but their roommates are not... I wonder what that means. I wish they would just post housing assignments already; I'm going crazy not knowing!

atlmom & egg - don't worry, last year our first bill was for tuition and fees only, and we rec'd a later bill for room and board. In fact, that bill came well after school had already started...and they told us not to pay until a later bill with adjustments from NMF money was rec'd by us. They didn't seem to be in too much of a rush for payment and I worried my d wouldn't be allowed to eat unless we had paid for room and board. But no worries, she was eventually notified of her dorm assignment (early July if I remember correctly), she was allowed to move in and her meal plan was activated...and I think we finally rec'd the adjusted billing in late October...lol!

I take back what I said before; a rising senior at UNC cleared up a lot of housing questions on Facebook. : )

Oh, and I meant to ask current UNC students a question. Did anyone live in a room with no A/C freshman year? Was it that bad? Just wondering. : )

I'm surprised to read that they have dorms without A/C. Which ones?

Parts of Ehaus, Craige, and Hinton James are un-airconditioned. Unfortunately, lol! ; )

jack- i believe only some of the rooms in HJ and ehaus have window units, along w/craig. so basically most of the south campus, and since a lot of freshmen are put in those dorms, a lot of ppl end up w/o AC.

Thanks, misstinax3 and cat119. I just assumed that all the dorms had been under some state of renovation over the past few years, and all had air conditioning. Those beginning few weeks of school have to be pretty bad without it. I'd bring a big floor fan. ;)

I thought one of the older south campus dorms was having additional a/c units installed over the summer. I'm looking for the press release and when I find it, I'll link.

BTW...check out this link. You can find floorplans, some photos, and even job notes for all maintenance and renovation for any building on the UNC campus.

Here's one link to a recent DTH article that mentions Morrison's renovation, and that HJ will have air conditioning units put in this summer, but just on the top 3 floors.

I lived in Morrison freshmen year and I had no AC. It wasn't bad. Just bring fans and plan for them to be on 24/7. We had a fan on the floor, a fan in the window, and a fan attached to each of our lofts.

Dorms with AC sometimes have problems too, rooms with the window units can be loud and dorms with central air don't let you control it so it can actually be too cold at times.

Housing assignments are out! The "Find My Room" link worked for me: )

indeed they are!!

Thanks jack...that's exactly the article I was thinking of. My d tells me, before the total conversion to a/c of the top 3 floors, every other room of HoJo had a window unit. I remember hearing something about everyone in the four room suites leaving their doors open to spread the a/c around. Not sure ... but I think it was in the older South Campus dorms.

Did see lots of floor fans going into Craige last year though. One thing...it does get cool very quickly in the fall in CH. And it was cool and rainy when we were moving our d out of Craige North in May of this year...so I don't think the 'suffering' will go on long...lol!

Yes I Have Air Conditioning!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh Thank God

yea I got mine too. Parker! I think that's good. Anybody have any input?

Yup I'm stuck in HJ with ac for next year...
