I still haven’t been able to log into the housing site because I’m still getting the message that says the server is overloaded. Is anyone else still getting this message?

Where can we find the layout of our rooms? I don’t know how many bathrooms there are (6 person apartment) nor do I know the size of the bedrooms.

I’m in 3rd north in a 6-person suite (was hoping for only 4 people… eh well) but from what I hear you get 2 bathrooms in that case. [I’m more concerned about how to deal with so many people in one spot!]

Six people get one bathroom … Eleven people get two bathrooms. Ladies and gentlemen, what do you expect from NYU Housing? It is notoriously bad. When you actually see the room, though, it will probably be better than you’re expecting. Most of the triples I have been in are actually quite large and definitely manageable. Don’t complain until you actually see the size of the rooms – even if you find the blueprints, they won’t be true to size. Don’t get so worked up yet. If you’re in a 6 person room, you probably have a large common room also. Wait until you get there!

What does “triple / studio / 3” mean? Three people in one room?

Did anyone else get Seventh Street Dorm?

What about 8 person rooms ? :P

Triple / studio means you have no rooms except a bathroom. Everything is in one huge room – the kitchen and sleeping space (for all three of you) are all together.

I think only 11 person rooms get two bathrooms. Pretty sure everyone else is stuck with one bathroom. 11 person rooms also get two refrigerators.

Well that sucks…I totally did not want to have one big room with 3 people :S

I don’t think its that bad from what I’ve seen other people do - you can each take your own corner or move the desks around so you can create like a little space for everyone to have their own. Do something creative with furniture (if you hate your roommates) and you’ll probably be ok!

Umm, 11-people dorms exist at NYU?? What dorm would this be in?

Anyway, housing wiki for 3rd north says “6 person suites have 2 bathrooms, each with one shower/tub and one toilet” so I’m going to trust that’s what it is.

Interesting. That’s news to me. I was in a 6 person with only one bathroom. The 11 person rooms are in Broome … I’m not sure if there are 11’s in other dorms, maybe just Broome.

I’m in a 2 person studio/double in Second Street. It doesn’t seem that bad, though it does say the rooms aren’t the biggest. Anyone have any experience w/ Second Street? The good news for me was that I got my requested roomie. Second Street was my 3rd choice dorm, but from what I read, it’s at least better than 26th st, which was my last choice.

wait a minute only one bathroom for 4 person suites…:(

That’s how I felt… but I’d do -bathroom for -2 people, lol.

i hate my life lol

Some colleges have communal bathrooms for an entire floor.

Some perspective, people! We are in MANHATTAN! Our dorms are good by default. Jeez!

Heh.

I got a low cost triple too. At first I was mad then I realized I pay four grand less per year and I don’t have to worry about workstudy as much.

So, I paid my deposit to get off the housing waitlist about two weeks ago, (handed it in personally). How long do I have to wait before I get my assignment?

Amen. Even the worst possible scenario at NYU, 1 bathroom for 6 people, is nothing like the setup at most other colleges.
