Housing at AU

^We submitted the deposit for my daughter on "Freshman(i.e., Accepted Students)Day" last year, which was on April 13, and my daughter did manage to get a double room. While we were there that day, one of the housing office staffers mentioned,(after being repeatedly questioned by me) that while he couldn't guarantee anything, it was likely that after another day or two from then, any students submitting deposits would likely be placed in a triple. Once again, I can't emphasize this enough, this was LAST YEAR, and I don't think anyone from AU (and I'm just a parent, myself) can guarantee when the cutoff is this year. All I can suggest is that if you KNOW that you're going to attend AU it would be in your best interest to submit your deposit as soon as possible.

Having said that, I also wanted to pass this on regarding the temporary nature of the forced triples: From what I've heard from my daughter, every forced triple that she was aware of was "de-tripled" by the end of fall semester. Not only that, there was room enough for several new students to move into her dorm for spring semester.

Daughter was in a forced triple last fall. They were de-tripled in less than 6 weeks. I think the de-triple list goes in the order of date deposit sent. I do believe though if you are put in a forced triple, then you usually get your first choice of dorm

if you apply for triple housing because it costs less, is it possible to still be detripled?

ecapp~ if you WANT a triple based on cost, i think you stay a triple. the temp triples are for those paying a doubles rate.
