Housing at Berkeley

Hi! I am probably transferring to Berkeley in the fall but I haven’t accepted the offer her so I can’t use the cal rent service. According to berkeley’s website COA is $6,000 less living off campus so I will probably try to do that. Does anyone of experience or tips? I am open to on campus too but if I would really save that much money I would prefer off campus. Ideally I’d like my own room but that probably isn’t realistic. Either way, like any other person I’m looking for a good space near campus!! Thanks

If you really want cheap, investigate the BSC co-ops at https://www.bsc.coop/ , which are a few thousand dollars less than the UCB off-campus student budget. However, they may be in high demand with long waiting lists. Apply early if interested.

Yeah I would totally love to live in the co ops and I’m gonna apply as soon as I accept my offer but supposedly there is going to be no room for the fall semester

Well, you could apply now but also look for other housing. Then, if you do not get into the BSC co-ops this fall (and live in other housing), move your application to a future semester, where your early (for that semester) application will put you higher on the waiting list.
