Housing at Dartmouth!

Thanks! You guys are the best :D

So to add on to hellomoon, for those of us who don’t own anything that can take the New Hamsphire winters, it wouldn’t be difficult to get this stuff once we’re their right? Now I know we can always do some good old online shopping, but if we want to do some store visiting will we have to go down to Manchester or Boston?

hollow: I came to hanover with nothing but light jackets and easily made it through fall term. For winter term you’ll want a coat, and if you want to shop in town we have an outdoors store and a northface store. For anything other than those you’ll have to travel out of town though. (Boston could always be a fun shopping day though, and isn’t that expensive to get to via Dartmouth Coach)

You can get to this mall on the local bus:

[Welcome to the PowerHouse Mall](http://www.powerhousemall.com/)

They have Beans and Eastern Mountain Sports, amongst other things.

East Wheelock isn’t too far from anything distance-wise, but it’s just not close to any of the other freshman dorm clusters, relatively speaking.
Sub-free… lol there are some pretty ragey people on sub-free floors but it’s more of a understood thing not to come back breaking stuff. EW isn’t antisocial or anything… idk. Spunaugle lives in EW if I’m not mistaken and can tell you more about the floor culture.
East Wheelock is easy to get. Singles are as well… I know quite a few people who requested a double and got a single.

On an old post someone wrote: “The walls in EW are paper thin and you can hear people talking in the rooms upstairs, even when they aren’t talking loud”. Is this true?

OHS: No. Not in my experience anyway. However, the walls are somewhat thin. You’re not going to hear anyone on another floor, but if you’re in a suite you will probably be able to hear some noise from your suitemates room if they’re speaking at a normal speaking voice. That said, a bit of music playing easily solves that issue.

Thanks for the info :o)
