<p>You get assigned to stay with a specific person, unless you opt not to have them host you. Some students come with parents who stay in the Hanover Inn, or other local hotels. Also, some students prefer to stay with friends/siblings/cousins who they already know here.</p>
<p>Also, don’t expect to have a bed if you are hosted. Bring a comfy sleeping bag and pillow, although you wont be doing much sleeping. (they have activities planned 24/7 in addition to all the ‘hanging out’ you will do with people you will meet.</p>

<p>I was assigned to stay with a guy who graduated from my high school, so I don’t think the pairings are completely random either; they put some thought into it.</p>
<p>My S was assigned to a guy who was majoring in his area of interest/possible major. So yeah, it isn’t random. (Probably one of the reasons why Dimensions seems to be one of the more convincing accepted students events.
