Housing at JMU?

I meant it is not a big deal whether you are in one or not. It is a big deal at some schools.

Hi,
I’m debating as to whether or not I should opt for living in the all-honors dorm next year. As an honors student, it is “highly recommended” that I choose to live at Shenandoah with all the other honors students… but I dunno, I was thinking I might want to be more immersed in the whole student body. Any advice?

I lived in the honors learning community when I was a freshman (way back when it was in Hoffman  ) and absolutely LOVED the experience. You will definitely be immersed in the whole student body in both your classes as well as organizations you join. I always found it was nice to hang out with all of my friends, but even better to come back to a dorm filled with like-minded students in regards to academics. I’m not saying that you won’t find non-honors kids who are incredibly intelligent and work hard- you just have a higher concentration of those type of people in one dorm. People are very respectful of quiet hours and it’s always a collaborative group to study with.

I made some of my best friends while living in the honors dorm- we still hang out all the time even though we aren’t in the same major. And I’ve only heard wonderful things about living in Shenandoah.
