housing at northeastern...

I am having trouble finding the original stuff from last fall for my son but I do know that the double rate for one semester in WVF this year is $3475.00 because it is on my bill. It is more than $260. above the normal double rate. One other consideration: if freshmen are in WVF they can sign up for a 10 meal a week food plan. Freshmen living in traditional dorms have a minimum of 15 meals a week on the food plan.
The current charge is $2370. per semester for 15 meals and $2055 for 10 meals. 10 meals is definitely enough for students in WVF.

"Our newest residence hall (West Village F), which opened in Fall 2006, has been identified as the Honors Program hall and only those students who have been accepted into the Honors program may choose this option. The room rate will be approximately $260 more per term than the standard freshman room rate."

Copied from the Housing Application we filled out for Fall 2007.

The charge on our bill for a standard double this term is $2920, so a difference of over $500; perhaps they are decreasing the difference for next year?

A little correction: Freshmen in traditional residence halls can have 10-meal plans (I would know this as I am in stetson west and have a 10-meal plan).

nope89, thanks for posting...that isn't what was in the info. we were given last year. The famous NEU shuffle...

Our s is in Stetson and had a 10 meal plan in the fall then increased it to 15 meals for spring since the cafes are conveniently located in the Stetsons.

With respect to the meal plans, the company that runs the school dining halls also has a take out counter separate from the halls where you can get meals "to go" for times when you know you do not have time to sit in the dining hall; I think this is covered as part of your weekly number of meals (as opposed to spending your dining dollars, husky dollars or paying out of pocket).

My S often uses this esp on weekends or when he has workstudy over the lunch hour or has a band practice right after a late class (I think they may be open a little later than the dining halls so he can then just pick up a box meal and bring it to his room after practice) and it is also a good option for students who live farther away from the dining halls.

creasemonkey,
I agree the first come first served policy serves those who have made a "committment" to the school. We'd LOVE to make a committment to the school. We just cannot do this until we know the financial aid picture. We don't have the luxury of saying yes yet.

Rated PG: Perhaps I have the wrong info. but the person in Housing told me that West V is considered "Enhanced" Double bedroom apartment style living. On this year's housing information on the web, Enhance Double Bedroom rate is $4123 per semester. Standard Double Dorm style rate is $2920 per semester. That is a $1205 difference per semester (substantially more than a $260 difference). Are the freshman housing types available in WV-F a different type?

kjofkw, There are many buildings in West Village, but I can't say for sure what type of housing WV-F freshmen honors is considered. I am strictly going by what the housing application stated. It was clearly noted with an asterisk and footnote that honors housing in WVF would be approx. $260 more, etc. as I stated above.

But now you've got my attention and I certainly will try to get it clarified tomorrow if I can. If I look at the website, however, I don't see any freshman housing that is $4,123 per semester.
