Housing at NU

Hi everybody! I'm gonna be a freshman at NU in the fall and I was wondering which dorms I should look into.

I was admitted into WCAS for math and I'm thinking of doing a double major in psych.

Any suggestions? Anything can help. Thanks!

Ahoy nantucket… At NU, you don’t really choose a dorm. You fill out a "likes " questionarre, and they put you into a dorm. You can expand your options though if you express an interest in a Res College. Keep an eye out for instructions - it will all work out.

Voice of experience: If you absolutley hate your assignment, your best bet to switch is right away. My son is a STEM kid, and all his classes fresh year were north campus, and they put him into a south campus res college. He emailed right away, and they were able to move him - evidently some kid at his current dorm was just as vehment about being placed on South campus, as my son was to be on North campus!

However, in the big picture it doesn’t really matter - it’s like a 15 minute walk from way south to way north. My son said he would have been just as happy to be where they originally put him. It’s really all about making new friends - and that is anywhere and everywhere. Have fun - and CONGRATUALTIONS!

The housing guide that everyone links to… [The 2012 Freshman Housing Guide | North by Northwestern](http://www.northbynorthwestern.com/story/the-2012-freshman-housing-guide/)

North Campus is closer to science, engineering, and frats. South is liberal arts, sororities, music, theater, etc. Other than that, just put your general likes in the housing guide, and voila!
