Maybe i'm missing something, but I couldn't find a lot of info about the housing options at Rensselaer, other than the names of the halls and a very general description of the accommodations they have.

Maybe someone has some first-hand info, such as which housing area is most social (open door policy, etc.), which dorms have the most space, how loud the surrounding rooms are (this isnt even for me - i play guitar), and how far they are from the main parts of campus.

I'm really sorry if this info is posted somewhere - because if it is, then I missed it.

I’ve checked that out and its a big help. It’s really specific and covers a lot of topics.

The way I see it, most of the housing options have a pretty varied set of students. Would this assumption be correct? Because if it is then I wouldn’t have much preference in where I dorm.

They do, except BARH and Barton Hall, which tend to have a greater number of athletes, but still a variety of students.

I am really curious as to how they assign rooms to students. My D put her request in later and even though it was her 10th choice she got Barton Hall. Of course she had no idea at that time that it was Barton Hotel - it is very nice and clean and she is so happy that she didn’t get any of her first 9 choices … but how did the school place students I wonder
