Hey everyone, just wondering what the best choice is in housing at UCF. I've heard each has its advantages, Nike/Hercules for the social scene, the Towers for the space and comfort, Libra for the location, Neptune is the newest For anyone who has gone on a tour, or is a current student, what did you think the best dorm was? I'm National Merit, so the honors housing in the Towers is also an option, but I don't know if the full year lease is worth it for me if I go home for the summer. (I'm out of state) Thanks!

Overall quality, gotta go for the Towers. They are always top of the list. What kind of dorm style are you looking for? Apartment? Suite?

Thanks emjay. I was going between the two. I know apartment would be awesome for the quality, but I know is be alright with suite and I’d save some money. Have you been in neptune? I was thinking about the suites there too.

Im partial to Lake Claire, personally. It is really nice. Neptune is my second choice. I have been in there, but not very extensively. Lake Claire is bigger, and the space really does matter. Apartment I prefer because Im not that good with new people and my aunt, who attends and is two years older than me, has some horror stories with her roommates.

Don’t go for the Towers-not only is it not worth the money, but it’s not a very social scene. I’m a sophomore here, and many of the people who live in the towers are athletes, and upper class men, those of which who have already established their inner circle. Long walk from most classes, as well, and it’s just not a very social place. For freshmen, I high suggest Nike/Hercules or Libra dorms. But if you’re set on your own room, Lake Claire, as the poster above said, is a good choice! I do suggest living in a traditional dorm though, and sharing a room-it can be the difference between making friends, or not.

WRITEfluidity-What do you know about Neptune? I have heard it is really nice and fairly social. I have also heard Lake Claire has lots of room and that Nike/Hercules is probably the most social.

Yeah, I’ve heard a lot of the things you’ve heard Andrew1996. Is Lake Claire primarily freshman? I thought the apartment style were mostly upper classmen, which was part of the reason I was looking at Neptune, besides that it is the newest, and from what I’ve heard, one of the nicest dorms on campus.

I know Neptune is advertised primarily as an option for freshmen. I also like the fact that it is near the gym and Nike/Hercules. I registered for housing in November and listed Neptune as my top choice…hope I did not make a mistake. Congrats on being National Merit!

Thanks Andrew! I’ll be heading down to tour on Friday, so I’ll make sure to check out at least Neptune and Lake Claire. I’ll let you know how it goes!
