Housing at UPenn

Hi all,

I've been accepted to attend UPenn this Fall, and am extremely excited about it! :)
I'm very undecided about the housing though, and am not sure as to which housing college I'm going to pick. I have a few questions, and would be very grateful if someone could answer them for me:

1) Is it true that life in the Quad and Hill can get very noisy and that if you want peace and quiet in the night, you're better off staying at some other college?

2) How hard is it to find accomadation in another housing college for your upperclass years after you've spent your freshman year in the Quad or Hill? What is the probability that you won't end up getting any housing at all the next year?

3) Are residential programs fun, and do they help you make a lot more friends at Penn?

Thanks :)

I heard that it isn’t for those who like to study in their rooms.

I think it is fairly difficult. I heard it is harder than to get into the Quad as a freshman. The freshmen in highrises get first priority for the same college house. After freshman year, people want the highrises so it may be better to request one freshman year if you want guaranteed highrise housing in the future.

They aren’t really anything.

Thank you :)
