We were unaware of the need to submit a housing application to reserve a spot in line for housing prior to acceptance until my son received an email after submitting his application. Unfortunately, he didn’t submit his application until late October so the housing application date is Nov 7th. How bad is this?
You are most likely fine. I was unaware I needed to do this until I received my acceptance and I am going to apply today. I am most likely out of luck but I hope that it will workout for me.
Have you looked at Windsor Hall? It’s a luxury dorm not associated with UF, so you are guaranteed housing, and don’t need to go through the stress of the UF housing signup process. I didn’t personally live at Windsor, but a few of my friends did and they really liked it. Just another option to avoid the possibility of getting placed in a late applicant triple or overflow housing. Just a tip - it’s really hard to get out of your Housing Contract past May 1st, so plan ahead. It’s hard to predict when you will be able to sign up, but just to give you an idea, the more popular dorms (Broward, Jennings, Beaty) filled up last year within 2-3 days.
G4TORG1RL - when you say the more popular dorms filled up within 2-3 days, are you referring to 2-3 days from last Friday (when acceptances went out)? Or 2-3 days from the housing application deadline (March 17)?
In the past, based on your priority date (how early you put in your deposit), they would let students select rooms in waves. The best would fill up in the first few days.
Last year it was different, in they did it all in one (or was it two?) days. your priority date become a priority time. Those with the highest priority were assigned the earliest times.
However, they released rooms in waves, this way not all of the best spots where taken early in the morning. You could still expect rooms to be available, even if you’re picking at a later time.
Room selection is still several weeks away…
I recently put down my $25 room deposit after hearing of my acceptance. I didn’t realize that I needed to reserve me spot before I was even accepted. I am OOS and would be unable to go to UF if I don’t get on campus housing. Am I out of luck because I reserved my spot so late and is it even possible for me to get an on campus housing contract?
My son received an email today about housing contracts. I paid a deposit of $175. I assume that means he is guaranteed a spot on campus. Have you received an email or looked to see if you have a contract available to accept on your account?
