Housing availability

Rice acceptance letters come out around Feb. 10th. So ill probably make my decision and pay my enrollment fee to UT around the 14th. will there be any on-campus housing left by then, or should i start looking for off-campus housing?

Housing priority and availability is based on when you applied for housing (not the same as the application for admission). If you haven't applied by now, you most likely will not get on campus housing.

Last year they had enough space to house ALL freshman who wanted housing, and they have opened a new dorm this spring, so should have even more space available this year. Read the thread below that has "dorms" in the title. I actually emailed the housing department, and posted their replies in my post. :)

As a freshman, you ARE GUARANTEED housing. Unfortunately, it will most likely not be in your first or even second choice housing (esp. San Jacinto, Duren, or any Honors housing). Housing apps opened at 6 am Sept. 1, 2006, and because SO many people applied, UT said it was useless to apply for housing until Nov. with early apps. Housing is the HUGE thing at UT, but you'll be fine. Just don't get your hopes up for choice housing.
