Hi, I put in a request to change my housing on the first day it assignments came out. If it works, when do you think I would receive an answer? I put in the request about five days ago. Thanks!!

can anyone help?

Good thing that you got your housing request in right away. The date and time do matter. Do you have a roommate or are you random? What did you put down as your preference (location or roommate preference)? I would not just rely on the computer and “system” to work for you. I would suggest calling housing directly and find out where you are on the list. Last year I was able to get my D’s housing switched right away but I don’t think it would have happened without a phone call. Hate to say it but sometimes it seems parents have better luck than a student calling. My D had the housing lady blow her off (you can’t always get what you want, blah, blah, blah) but then I called and guess what? The change was granted. Hmmm…

If you are very specific about what you want it may be difficult to switch. However, if you are open to a few different dorms you may have better luck. It seems like many freshman want in the six-pack and it can happen but it may be challenging if you’re assigned to a specific roommate and the two of you are looking to stay together.

Bottom line is you need to call housing ASAP and tell them what you’re ideally looking for. Then start praying that it works out.

Hope this helps you.

Just realized that I never answered your real question - lol. Changes are made right away (they’re not waiting until a specific date to make changes) so you should have an answer in the next several weeks if not earlier. Again, I had my answer immediately when I called. Hope it works out for you.
