housing concerns

i applied for FSU about a month ago and will hear back in March, and assume i will be accepted and was wondering if there would be any decent housing left that late in the game

Most students apply for housing BEFORE they get their decisions, as most of the deposit is refundable. With the cuts in freshman admissions, you will most likely have a spot in a dorm even at this late date. We know a student taken off the wait list in June 2008 after housing assignments already went out who got housing no problem. It will be older non-refurbished community style dorms, but they can be very social, and a great way to meet friends.

I'm with you maclaeur I'm waiting on my decision as well. How good are the dorms at this stage of the game? Old? I will be a junior transfer applicant will that help me get a better dorm or will I just get stuck with a dwindly one since I waited for the decision.

They give dorm priority by the number of years you've lived on campus, not by year in school (freshman/sophmore/ect)

If you get a dorm, which I agree you probably will, you will likely end up in smith/kellum/ or one of the other older community style dorms. The room certainly isn't great but it is bearable. They are also very social.

I have a question..

when is the deadline to have made a decision on your dorm preferences for summer and fall 2009?

I wish to go at least to preview and see the dorms for myself first

sunnyflorida, i went to apply for housing and it said you had to be admitted to FSU before you can complete a housing agreement. that's why i am concerned.

I am having the same concern. I applied as a junior transfer for Spring 2010 and am worried that I’m going to be stuck in a crappy residence hall. I should hear back about my admission status within the next couple of weeks, but it won’t let me submit a housing agreement until I’ve been officially accepted into the university. Do you guys think my chances of getting a good residence hall are better as a spring transfer?
