My daughter received her package today. They received her housing choice 4/17. We were kind of surprised she received her fourth choice (Marks). She was kinda disappointed not to get Birnkrant or North. Can anyone tell us some pros about Marks to make her happier about it? :)

Which Marks? Hall or Tower?

I used to live in Marks Tower, and unfortunately from what I saw from visiting friends' dorms, MKT has the smallest rooms out of all of them. On the other hand, there seemed to be a great sense of community gained by us all hanging out in the hallway all the time! We did have some of the nicer furniture on campus though, since the older stuff wouldn't fit.

Marks Hall (is it still an honors dorm?) had larger rooms, but older furniture, though maybe that's changed by now.

Oh, and Marks Tower has an awesome view of downtown from one of the stairwells. Suprisingly beautiful.

It's Marks Tower. Thanks for the feedback. Any other info -- especially the pluses (grin) -- is appreciated!

Good location- I used to roll into 8am class in my pajama pants, having woken up about five minutes prior. Close to the two major libraries and one of the cafeteria-style eating options. The park area outside it just got redone a couple of years ago, so its looking much spiffier than when I was there! Also makes a nice little community w/ Pardee Tower, Marks Hall, and Trojan Hall, and a short walk to New/North, so easy to visit friends who have ended up in different buildings.

I got STUCK in the RADISSON and I'm ****ED off...whats the social scene/ are there ANY perks to living in the Radisson? I live 20 minutes away from campus anyways and i feel like its so depressing and not a part of campus life to live in a HOTEL ...i'd almost rather just live at home. So does anyone have anything positive to say about the radisson?

Oh my gosh! My daughter's first choice is the Radisson. Based on the original post, I'm kinda scared to see what she winds up with.....

I did hear something positive about the Radisson. Apparently, this year they have 4 floors versus 2 dedicated to incoming freshman. Sounds to me like freshman are starting to take over....:)

*bigger beds
*tv in every room
*cleaning service
*your own bathroom (only shared w/ roomate instead of w/ a whole hall)

Plus, everyone I knew that lived in the Radisson used to party there all the time. So while every group of people will bring a different vibe to it, hopefully, it'll be better than you think.

ahh this scares me! I haven't gotten my housing assignment yet, but I'm pretty sure they received mine early march... I hope I get North or new!!

.i'm a spring admit and won't be filling out housing forms until at least june or july..i assume i'll getting the bottom of the list choices...

kkgirl, I have friends who were spring admits. Come spring semester, some people in the dorms end up leaving for frat houses or off-campus apartments. At first, my friend was put in Cardinal Gardens (off campus apartments), but she later got a call asking if she wanted to be put in Pardee. Most of her floor was made of spring admits and they all got along well and became friends.

that's cool :) now all i have to do is wait for the fatty enrollment packet with all of the forms. i assume it comes by mid-june...

i got parkside suites...my first choice...

I wanted parkside suites so badly...I'm wondering if I should fill out that room change request form they gave us...

I got Pardee, and it was one of my top 4 choices.

Chelper, what you need to realize is that Parkside Suites is even more "off-campus" than the Radisson. It's on the opposite side of campus and unless you're an engineer, most of your classes will be closer to the Radisson. Hell, I'm an engineer and I can truthfully say that a majority of my classes freshman year were closer to New/North than Parkside Suites.

Oh, and you were worried about the social scene? Say good-bye to that if you decide to live in Parkside Suites. My best friends lived in Parkside, but I can definitely say that the Radisson will be a much more sociable place than Parkside will ever be. Nothing against Parkside though...I spent a lot of my freshman year there with my friends.

I got trojan hall..I don't know much about it so what are its perks? How is it in comparison to other residential halls?

It was the 2nd choice for one of son's friends. It has a lot of leaders & scholarship students there. I've read that the kids really get to know one another well & leave their doors open. It is very near Pardee and Marks & they all socialize together.
