housing contract

hey, I am filling out my housing application and I am in the RCAH program so I will b in snyder Phillips. but it says I can choose a room, do you have any suggestions? also, what meal plan should I choose? and can anyone tell me about the Spartan cash ?? thnks!!

You can choose a room? That’s new o.O. All the rooms are pretty much the same lol. If you can afford it, get the most expensive meal plan because you get $300 in Spartan Cash + you can bring a guest 8 times to the Gallery.

Spartan Cash is just like a debit card you can use anywhere around campus and a lot of other places on Grand River. It’s supposed to be super convenient, but if you have a debit card already then I wouldn’t worry about it.

I got the cheapest meal plan, which is still unlimited, but it doesn’t come with spartan cash or guest meals. However, I find that the spartan cash is unnecessary because combo exchange, which also comes with every mean plan, allows you to get many items from various cafes and dining places. Also, instead of paying the extra amount for the top meal plan and receiving $300 in spartan cash, you can use that money elsewhere and you have optimum flexibility with it, while spartan cash can be used at limited locations in EL.

The reason I suggested the top meal plan was because of the guest passes. It is just under $9 a person if you want a friend to eat in the Gallery with you. I too am on the cheapest meal plan, but I was just throwing it out there that if you can afford it, you should get it.

I filled out the online housing application and the only options I had were smoke free, quiet,alcohol-free,etc.
Do we get a choice in Residence Halls? Or are we just randomly assigned a hall?

^ Unless you are in a residential program, you get to choose your top three choices of residence halls (that does not mean you’ll get into one of them though). It may not be available to request yet since current students haven’t filled out housing applications for next year.

Yeah you usually choose the top 3 halls you prefer in preference order… I’m not sure of the odds of getting your first choice, but I know my sibling didn’t… supposely she happen to like her hall anyway and now is settled at the hall again ( by choice) for her second year; so nothing will probably turn out horrible.

There are no really “bad” dorms on campus so if you don’t get your first choice, don’t worry.

If you have any questions about specific dorms, let us know. Current MSU students will probably be able to answer them for ya :).
