what???? i didn't request that....>!!!

Cornell is over enrolled and housing spaces are limited....the date that you submitted your housing application could have played a role in your assignment.

i didn't request that.!!!!!! WHAT!?

this is so not fair.... ahhhh!!!!

there has to be a way to change before that....... what can i do?!

You can call housing and try...but unless it's an extreme circumstance I'm not sure there is much they can do.

ije28, I sent an e-mail and the told me exactly what dewdrop is telling you...

i refuse to pay the additional fee, i am paying for college on my own and will under no circumstances pay an additional fee

my mom went to cornell and will be calling alumni people also as well as calling the housing people

It's a $70 fee and plenty of Cornellians are paying their own way...but whatever.

Just be grateful you've got a room...there will be incoming students who have to live in dorm lounges and doubles that will be turned into triples until housing can place them in a room..and they, not a legacy who already has a bed, should get first priority for an open room.

Good luck to you...

Dewdrop87, wow I had absolutely no idea that housing was in such a dire situation in regards to lack of housing for incoming students (didn't really hear much about it here on CC before); I'm guessing that some transfers were also affected by this? At any rate, I'm extremely grateful that I got the room type/building that I initially requested.

It happens to some people in the fall...but winter transfers tend to have this problem even more...happened to a friend of mine.

Housing only has so many beds...and Cornell is apparently over enrolled already. Since all freshman and transfers are guaranteed housing, the housing folks do everything they can to honor this commitment.

I have got a quick question. I asked this before, but still confused about it.

So there is so-called suite right. There are 2 singles and 2 doubles in my suite.

I want to ask about the bathroom. Will we 6 only use that bathroom? How many toilets and sink are there? Can anyone explain this to me?

It is a major problem for me, because I tend to spend lots of time in there. LOL

Tsenguun: from what I've seen, the bathrooms have a two-sink unit, two toilets and two showers. This might differ from place to place, but that's pretty much standard. And yes, only those living in the suite will be using it.

Oh, well, look at this.

"Suites are single gendered and house six or seven students who all share one bathroom (two sinks, one toilette, and one shower). Each unit has its own kitchen, social lounge, and RA. The building also has its own library and computer lab."

Read this on HILC info.

My friend lived in Low Rise 6 and I remember seeing only 1 shower in the bathroom.

That's certainly ominous! Sorry for the bad information then.

No, man. You at least gave me a hope for some time! But, yeah, I should be thankful for what I've got already.

would anyone like to switch rooms into a double in akwekon? please let me know!!!!!

Did you have your parents (legacies) contact housing first? They didn't budge?!?

the housing director still hasn't responded to them....... my mom is gonna keep calling though

this is really ridiculous! i mean couldn't they at least have turned the HUGE balch singles into doubles to account for 2 additional freshmen girls instead of putting them in this program house?!

any other suggestions? on september 5th i'm gonna go to housing and try and switch (that is the first day you can do it on campus)
