My S got his housing contract today. South Quad Honors. Seemed very early but we are very happy with result and wanted to let people know to look out for contracts. Maybe he had a very good priority number.

Learning communities and honors were given contracts today. It is not based on priority numbers, but the specific application requests at this point.

Students not applying to those special housing situations still have a wait ahead.

:)

How much was her housing contract if you do not mind asking. Mine was $14,024. I do not believe that is correct due to the amount of financial aid I have received. Can anyone confirm that the housing rate has not yet been affected by financial aid or is that $14,024 is a standard rate. I was offered a single room with a private path by the way.

Double at $10,596.

My understanding is that any financial aid/scholarship does not reduce the housing contract amount shown on agreement but rather, are used later to go towards the expenses.

Your contract is the going rate for the room you have. Your financial arrangements with the university are not going to be reflected in the contract.

Ouch. That’s a lot. I got a double at $10,246. The financial aid award is off the price of a double, so around $10,000/ year. That is the standard rate. You have to make up the $4,000 difference. If money is an issue, definitely look into getting a double.

My D got the double at $10,246 too.

Snayyan09, That seems like the price of the single. Double check your contract.

I think they are also sending out regular (non learning community) contracts. I saw someone who got East Quad and said that they weren’t in any type of learning community.

^ Is it true? I thought the regular housing for freshman will be announced in August. He/She may be in the Residential College or the GILE which are in East Quad. The GILE is not a residential program but with special housing arrangement in East Quad.

They claimed they are not. Also…It won’t be released in August. Did you get the update email? It said they will be released throughout the summer (June, July, August).

Mine applied for honors housing in April but hasn’t heard anything. Is that a bad sign? Did the contracts come in email or mail?

My son heard he got honors housing through an e-mail received on May 29th. It was sent to his UMIch e-mail account. Make sure you check that account and junk mail. If not there I would sent an e-mail to ask. honors.housing@umich.edu.

Thanks 2135ar, it was in the UMich email account. South Quad honors.

Hi all, I’am registered for orientation June 8-10, would it be reasonable to expect my contract by then? North/Central Campus housing may impact what class times I choose.
Your orientation date won’t drive your housing notification.
If you applied to any MLC and are accepted, you should be able to receive the contract before orientation. I think it was announced today a year ago. For non MLC housing contract, I think it may take longer.
@carlsandburgsr It would be better to start a new thread for your question.
I got accepted into Honors back in March and applied for Honors Housing but didn’t get the email. Should I be worried or wait it out?
I haven’t gotten mine for honors either. I wouldn’t worry too much yet.
Last year honors housing contracts were sent on March 29, but I have not seen any postings that they were send today so I would not worry about it. Although not guaranteed, my understanding is that everyone who wants honors housing and requests it on time gets South Quad. The important thing is to check your umich e-mail not your prior e-mail. The housing contract should be sent to your umich account.
@213ar Are you sure the honors housing contracts were sent on March 29? Housing application was not even started at that time. Do you mean May 29?
