I still haven't gotten any housing forms and can't access them online. When are the forms due?

This info. applies to newly admitted students. If you’ve sent in your $300 housing deposit, you’ll receive housing instructions in May via snail mail and NYU email. You must apply online and send in your $1,000 housing reservation fee by June 2. Both the $300 deposit and $1,000 fee will be applied to your fall housing charges.
You’ll find this sort of information on their website and in the red brochure, “General Instructions,” that came in your beautiful purple admissions packet. I found it helpful to underline and make notes in it.
As you figure out your cash flow, remember that you’re required to buy health insurance IF you don’t have other coverage. Last year’s rate appears to have been $1,524, but I haven’t finished looking into this on NYU’s website. Also remember to allow money in the budget for transportation and the more expensive housing in case that’s where you’re placed.
Good luck and congratulations on NYU!

How much more is the more expensive housing? 1k a year?

Housing and meal plan prices vary a lot. The most expensive apartment-style room rate for freshmen is $12,850. The most expensive traditional dorm for freshmen is $11,490. Those prices don’t include the meal plan. The link for housing rates is: [NYU > Department of Housing](<a href=“Housing and Dining”>Housing and Dining)
You’ll see headings for meal plan options and rates, too. I don’t know how common it is for a student to be assigned a much more expensive room than requested.
