housing decision

What halls are generally considered as the best ones to get into for, let's say, non-druggies and people that don't drink?

Do a search on TAMU's website for "substance free". There are some floors of dorms that are designated "substance free" and you have to sign a pledge that you won't use alcohol or drugs while you live there. If you can't find anything on the website about it, try calling the housing office and asking them about it.

Actually- you should be comfortable in almost any hall- there's not really the areas of pressure that you see on other campuses. I don't do drugs or drink either and its a total nonissue. The commons is a group of dorms on south side that has a really great atmosphere (and swing dancing in the basement on thursdays :-P ) and I have a lot of friends that love it there. I am particularly partial to North Side, though... i live there and its amazing. The location is great- it's close to the dining hall, the post office, classes, all-faiths chapel, and the drill field (we play soccer and ultimate frisbee there). No matter where you go, you can't go wrong. And here is where I throw in a plug for Lechner, the superfantastic honors dorm...
