Housing Decisions

I got a double in Bursley. If anyone is on central/hill and would like to swap PLEASEEEEEEE let me know!

Would anyone want to dorm in Oxford (Hill)?

Has anyone in Honors been told yet that they have been place in South Quad?

SBDad, my D got her notification yesterday for Honors in South Quad, we're in Oregon.

She's a Shipman, right? I believe they have guaranteed South Quad housing. Anyone who is not a Shipman, but is in Honors, get South Quad yet? Thank!

2 kids from my old HS got into South Quad, Honors. 1 is in SQ non honors, 1 is in WQ i think they said

I ended up with a triple in Couzens.

how good is markley?

It's decent; Far from where most of your classes will be, as well as the nearest bus stop. But it's still on Central campus. The rooms themselves aren't very nice though. I don't know about the food at Markley. Markley is also considered the "party" dorm cause it's 98% freshman or something (95?)

I 'd rather be on north than at markley or oxford!

Is Oxxford that bad? I don't see much of a difference though. You'll be taking the bus either way.

It's pretty isolated from everything and it doesnt have its own cafeteria, which is a huge pain. All the people I know that lived there hated it.

damn why havent i gotten mine yet

I read somewhere on the housing website that there's a cafeteria there. How far is the downtown area from there? Are there any good restaurants nearby Oxford?

Oxford is in a highly residential area, and is really meant to be apartment-style housing for graduate students/more independent people (hence no cafeteria). It's pretty far away from downtown, but not that far away from the South University commercial area which has a whole lot of different restaurants.

So does the South University commercial area have "better" restaurants than the main downtown area?

South U area is less expensive and more aimed at college students. Only reason I ever go downtown (I consider downtown to be the stretch of Main Street from Packard to around Ann) to eat is for Mongolian BBQ on special occasions, and I guess on very rare occasions The Arena for when Michigan hockey is on satellite. Downtown basically has a lot of restaurants with food I don't want/can't afford and a lot of stores with crap I don't want/can't afford. South U area has lots of choices, many of which are open until 2-4AM.

SBDad, my daughter got honors housing at South Quad. She received her contract last Wednesday. If honors kids are not assigned South Quad, do they get Couzens for sure, or are they all over the place? A good friend is still waiting for her mailing, so we are nervous she won't be in South Quad.

fredmar, my son has not yet received his contract. His online account says it was issued June 5, but we haven't received anthing yet. I don't know the answer to the Couzens question. He's getting a little anxious.

SB DAD... same thing with me... I have orientation soon and they said I can stop by housing then
