I'm a junior. I want to apply to UF next year. Problem is, I heard the housing deposit deadline is early march - is that true? I'm planning to apply to out-of-state colleges too and their decisions usually come out in late march/early april. If I pay the deposit after the deadline, will I get any housing at all? If not, is it even worth it for me to apply to UF? Any advice would be appreciated.

You thought early march was…er early. The deadlines was Feb. 26 this year. Paying after the deadline pretty much guarantees you that you will not get a spot in the dorms. I got the email that they send out to people who didnt pay by the deadline and they made it pretty clear that wait listed applicants have a very low chance of getting a dorm when there’s so much demand in the first place.

I say apply. You never know when your feelings might change. After you apply to all your schools, weigh your options. Go through different scenarios. Factor in whether or not you’ll get accepted to the schools you applied to and what they’re worth to you.
