I am caught between living at Hayden and University Hall. I cannot imagine not having a kitchen, and I also think this would cut down on cost because I wouldn't have to get a larger meal plan. (And I eat..alot.) However, University Hall is far from the main campus. (Does anyone know how far it is from the CAS buildings?) I've heard many people rave about Hayden, and I like it's location. It also has an explorations I am interested in. But, no kitchens, smaller rooms, etc.
I am also concerned that living at University Hall will separate me from the freshman year experience, I am not sure how social the hall is because I haven't found anyone talking about it.

I would greatly appreciate if someone gave me some insight. I will be applying March 20th, so I need to figure this out soon. >.<

University Hall is a good 10 minute walk from campus, whereas Hayden is just across Washington Square Park.

However, U-hall is probably the best dorm at NYU because of its awesome location (Union Square) and its awesome facilities. And Palladium is just next door if you wanna go to the gym/cafetaria.

I would go with U-Hall, but I am biased because most of my friends are in Uhall and they say how good it is ><

Dude,
I totally have an illegal kitchen in hayden. Just buy a good electric skillet, a pot, a range, and whatever else you want, and you got your kitchen. Works fine for cookin'.

Palladium and Weinstein are about the same, although some claim Palladium is better. I disagree, as it is often crowded, has somewhat long lines, and isn't any better than Weinstein or even Hayden as far as dining halls go. It's just newer and has longer hours than Hayden. Weinstein blows as a dorm, but Hayden is good, and you have the Hayden, Weinstein, and Kimmel Cafeterias all within a 4 minute walk, so it's clearly the best.

Weinstein eating options are the best, IMO. And, just to add, I loved living there and so did everyone I know who actually DID love there. Most of the people you hear bashing it, did NOT live there.
