I’m terribly sorry if this comes off as stupid. My allergies are killing me and I have a headache, so my patience is wearing thin. Plus, my mother doesn’t really know how to navigate the Cal Poly website.
Can someone explain to me how the housing & dining payments work? My mom and I have been clicking various links on Cal Poly’s website to no avail. My understanding was you choose your dorm and pay immediately after…? But then when I click CashNet there is nothing for me to make a payment for until August… I already submitted my SIR and dorm selections. I printed out License Signature Page of the Student Housing and Dining License Agreement. Now what? It directs me to CashNet and the only thing I can “View Details” on is the “REGISTRATION SPRING - ESTIMATED”. I’m assuming this is for Spring 2013, and as an incoming freshman I am Fall 2013.
Again, sorry if this information can be found (I have been looking at many links but nothing is clarifying this for me), but I really need help. I know housing is on a first-come-first-serve basis, and if I don’t pay on time, I’m afraid I won’t get the housing I want!

In our case we did exactly what you described. Then it took 48 hours for the amount we owed for the housing/dining deposit to show up in the portal.
From there, paying the balance due was easy… imagine that.
Be warned, there is a 2.9% processing fee for using a credit card and they don’t like Visa.
CashNet will be happy to extract the money directly from your checking account (eCheck) for no additional fee.
We don’t qualify for financial aid, so I don’t know how that works if you are paying with FA dollars. Congratulations on your decision to enroll at Poly.

I don’t believe we qualify for FA either, though my parents have kind of kept me in the dark about that…I’m guessing so I’m not concerned?
Okay, so it only takes a while for the website (and by website, I mean CashNet) to update payment options? It hasn’t even been 24 hours yet, so I’ll expect it to be up by tomorrow. Otherwise, I’ll have to make a phone call :/

Thank you! :)

When we started the process on a weekend the same thing happened to us after doing the first two items on the check list (choosing dorm options, signing forms, etc.) Don’t worry. On Monday it will create an amount due for you on Cash Net, and will show a balance of $2,200ish due for the housing deposit. The thing that you can do now is set up your Cash Net account so that payments are taken from your bank account. You provide your bank routing number and account number. Once you pay the balance on Monday it will provide a transaction number (proof of your payment), and then you fax or scan that signature page (with that proof of payment transaction number) to them.
